Dylan Walsh, best known for starring in Nip/Tuck, has been involved in a car accident with his family.
The American actor, 61, was driving with his wife Leslie Bourque, their children Amelie and Hudson, and another passenger, in Rumson, New Jersey over the weekend.
The Rumson Police Department explained that after the car veered into the southbound lane while travelling northbound on Sunday, it then hit and broke through one utility pole, before colliding with another.
Although two people were taken to hospital, the actor and his family are ‘safe and have now returned home’.
In a statement to Metro, a representative for the actor said: ‘Over the weekend, Dylan Walsh and his family were involved in a car accident in Rumson.
‘Thankfully, everyone is safe and has since returned home. The family is deeply grateful for the swift response of the Rumson Police, Fire Department, and EMS, as well as the staff at Riverview Medical Center for their care.
‘They would also like to extend a special thank-you to the management and staff of The River Point Inn for their support in the immediate aftermath.’
Following the accident, it was reported that eight residents lost power, but the utility poles have since been replaced and the road reopened.
The accident remains under investigation, as reported by People. It is unclear if Walsh was driving at the time of the accident.
A local news publication also reported that the actor’s wife also shared details about the accident in a since-deleted Facebook post.
‘It was our family who was involved in the car accident on River Road yesterday afternoon. We just want to thank everyone who took care of us in this scary time,’ she wrote.
‘First of all, to the managers/staff at River Point Inn who immediately ran out to make sure we were ok and comfort our kids (literally one lady wrapped her arms around all of us letting us know it would be ok) – bringing ice bags and the fancy Evian water bottles.
‘To the first responders who came faster than one would think. The EMT who put up with my corny jokes in the ambulance. And the ER staff at Riverview Medical.’
She concluded the post sharing an update on how the family is all doing now too.
‘We are a bit bruised from seatbelts, but grateful for them and air bags which saved our lives. We apologise for anyone who lost power or inconvenience.’
Walsh starred as plastic surgeon Dr. Sean McNamara on the medical drama Nip/Tuck for six seasons from 2003 to 2010.
He also played Al Burns on Unforgettable and General Sam Lane on Superman & Lois.
His family’s close call comes just a few weeks after the death of Walsh’s Nip/Tuck co-star Julian McMahon, who died aged 56 last month.
McMahon had previously been diagnosed with cancer, which he faced privately, having not shared his condition with fans.
‘With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,’ his wife Kelly McMahon shared in a statement to Deadline.
‘Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.
‘We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.’
