It’s been a minute since Noah Wyle and George Clooney starred together on “ER” — the show that made them famous. Clooney left the show in 1999, and Wyle in 2005, but both reappeared over the years until the season finale in 2009.
The two have stayed in touch over the years, and even had a mini-reunion with Julianna Margulies and Anthony Edwards when Clooney starred in Broadway’s “Good Night, and Good Luck.” While Wyle’s appearance shows that he’s supportive of his friend and former co-star, Wyle makes it clear that the support goes both ways.
Wyle Has a Sweet Response After Clooney Praised His New Show
âGeorge watched it [“The Pitt”] and he was very complimentary, which I think was his way of getting me to come see his show, which worked,â Noah told E! News at the Gotham Awards on June 2. âHe was equally phenomenal.â
‘Complimentary’ may be too mild a word. Recently, Clooney appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and raved about Wyle’s new series. âHave you guys seen that show?â The “Ocean’s Eleven” star asked the audience.
âHe’s so good, and I have to say, weâve been really dear friends since, you know, since the show, since we did the pilot of the show,” he continued. “He is just the most honorable, talented young man — I get to say because Iâm an old man — and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show and he does just a great job with it.â
But it’s not just Clooney who’s given Wyle kudos for “The Pitt,” which he also serves as writer and executive producer of. âIâve seen quite a few of the old cast members and theyâve been really lovely,” Wyle told E! News, alluding to other “ER” costars.
‘ER’ Star Teases Possible Reunion with Former Castmates
Due to the similarities between “The Pitt” and “ER,” many have wondered if — or maybe when — other former castmates appear on the show.
“We all do keep in touch,” Wyle told ET in March when asked about the possibility. “The chance to work together again is something we always look forward to.”
While we wait for an “ER” reunion on “The Pitt,” many of them have appeared recently on and off-Broadway. While Clooney has been starring in “Good Night, and Good Luck,” Margulies starred in Broadway’s “Left on Tenth,” alongside Peter Gallagher. Edwards, as well, starred as Paul in “The Counter” off-Broadway.
