Love stories often end with happily ever after â but sometimes, that ending is just the beginning. A new chapter, new challenges, and new drama can unfold when two lives truly start to merge. Thatâs precisely where “Nobody Wants This” picks up in Season 2.
Showmaker Erin Foster is ready to show fans what comes after âhappily ever after.â Her breakout Netflix hit, “Nobody Wants This”, charmed viewers with the relatable romance between podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Rabbi Noah (Adam Brody).
Now, as Season 2 arrives Oct. 23, Foster spoke to Deadline and shared some MAJOR Deets on season 2.
‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Will Explore The Real Work of Building a Life Together
Talking to Deadline, Foster said Season 2 will dig even deeper into the reality of building a life together, with a few surprises along the way.
Foster said, “Itâs like, do I like your friends? Do you like my friends? Do you like each otherâs families? How do you want to spend a weekend together? And I used to always think that the goal was to go to a dinner with a couple where you both equally want to be there, right”
Talking about creating a shared world with two people in a relationship, Foster added, “Itâs not like, Iâm doing this for you with your friends and youâre doing me with my friends, but you really have a shared world. And thatâs not something I ever had until I was with the person Iâm married to. And so, a lot of that stuff I put into Season 2.
Leighton Meester Joins Season 2 â and Shares the Screen With Husband Adam Brody
One of the most exciting additions this season is Leighton Meester, who steps into a playful guest role as Joanneâs middle school nemesis, Abby, bringing her on-screen with real-life husband Adam Brody. Once Meester was cast, the creative team leaned in, adding extra moments so the couple could share more scenes.
What began as a small part quickly evolved, with new moments crafted to highlight their chemistry and give fans something fun to grab onto.
Foster said, “They didnât have any scenes alone with each other originally. And so then I went in and I was like, âOK, Iâm going to give them a scene alone and kind of throw in a couple moments that people would grab onto and have fun with.â
New Faces, Same Heartfelt Stories
Season 2 picks up not long after Noahâs life-changing decision in the finale â just a short time later â and welcomes several new faces to the cast, including Girls alum Alex Karpovsky, Miles Fowler, and Succession star Adrian Moayed.
Behind the scenes, new showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan â both Girls veterans â have stepped in, bringing a seamless creative dynamic to the team while continuing to support the voice and heart of the series.
A Show About âHealthy Loveâ â and Real Life Connections
Foster says fan reaction to Season 1 helped shape this new chapter. She added, “I learned so much in Season 1, seeing what people grabbed onto. I watched all the TikToks, I saw âHealthy Love.â OK, thatâs something people really are yearning for â a show about healthy love and meeting someone later in life. Thatâs something people really grabbed onto. And so those were the themes that I made sure we paid attention to, and gave energy to.”
Whatâs Next for Nobody Wants This?
While thereâs no set plan for how many seasons the series may run, Foster is eager to see how audiences respond to this next chapter. For now, her focus is on telling honest, relatable stories. She teased fans by sharing what Season 2 will focus on: “I would say that Season 1 was âwill they, wonât they?â And Season 2 was âhow will they?â
And if fans continue to embrace the showâs heart and humor, there might be many more chapters still to come.
Season 2 is set to premiere on October 23, 2025, with production already wrapped as of June. You can stream season 1 here.
