“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” is set to hit movie theaters on November 14. This marks the third film in the franchise, which started in 2013. Now, one of the stars of the movie, Dave Franco, says he’s taking a break from acting after appearing in several films over the last few years.

Franco was interviewed by PEOPLE in November 2025, and they asked if he planned to take some time for himself. Notably, this would occur after the promotional campaign for “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

He said, “Okay, yes, I do. Basically, we’re getting through this week of press, and then I will disappear for a while.” Franco continued, “I’m sure people are sick of me, and I will go to the middle of nowhere and climb into a hole.”

The interviewer then asked about the length of his break from acting. Franco responded, “You’ll see me when you see me.” Naturally, the quote serves as a reference to the “Now You See Me” franchise.

‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’ Has Strong Reviews

Franco has been with the “Now You See Me” franchise since the first movie, playing Jack Wilder. The rest of the principal cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Isla Fisher. Ruben Fleischer directed the film.

So far, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” has impressive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 64 percent rating. One critic said, “In the world of magic, everything that disappears… reappears. Forget logic. Sometimes all we need is a little magic. Brilliantly illusioned and written, ‘Now You See Me, Now You Don’t’ is escapist entertainment at its glamorous and grandest.”

Another reviewer wrote, “To be clear, it’s all in service of a disposable lark, but it’s an enjoyable journey to go on all the same. Even the requisite ‘one last trick’ lands with satisfying elegance.”

Another critic said, “The star-studded cast clearly loves making these movies together, and that sense of enthusiasm goes a long way towards selling the knowingly ridiculous magic.”

Finally, a different review states, “In the moments where we get to see these younger magicians marvel at the Horsemen, while also showing them the dated nature of some of their magic, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is a really enjoyable movie.”

Franco Recently Became an Emmy Nominee

Franco appeared in Apple TV’s hit series “The Studio” in 2025. The show, led by Seth Rogen, became an Emmy darling when nominations were announced in July. Among its 23 nominations was Franco, who received a nod for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

He reacted to his nomination to PEOPLE. After being asked if he expected the recognition, he joked, “I always saw that coming.” Franco then said, “No, it’s insane. And the truth of it all is I truly did not think this nomination was even a possibility.”

He continued, “I remember when they first sent me all of the episodes [of the show after filming], I started watching through it,  and I was like, ‘Oh no. This is my favorite show, and I’m about to come in and ruin it.’”

Franco added, “[Allison and I] also didn’t know when the nominations were being announced, and so we were in our kitchen, and I got a text from my publicist, and it just said ‘EMMY NOMINATION.’ And I go, ‘Oh my God. […] I think I just got nominated for an Emmy.’ I had to Google it. I didn’t believe it.”
