Apple TV Plusrecord-smashing new show, Pluribus, from the creator of Breaking Bad, just got spoiled in a totally unexpected way.

Spoilers for Pluribus episode seven, The Gap, ahead.

The new apocalyptic series follows Carol (Rhea Seehorn), a pessimistic woman who must save the world from happiness when an alien virus spreads across humanity.

With a new episode every Friday, the show from Vince Gilligan has already secured its place as Apple TV’s number one show – outpacing megahits such as Severance and The Morning Show.

Meanwhile, it has accrued a wealth of critical acclaim, securing a near-perfect 98% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score across 142 reviews – no easy feat.

It has been hailed as one of the best shows of the year, praised for the smart, engaging storyline, powerhouse performances and fresh take within the well-worn apocalypse genre.

With fans on tenterhooks at the end of each week to see what twist the story will take next, some keen-eyed viewers noticed that the ending for episode seven was inadvertently spoiled on Google Earth.

In the show, Carol lives in a cul-de-sac where the houses surround a large, circular slab of concrete.

The lead character has a turbulent relationship with the happy hive mind (known as the Others) that has placed humanity in a strange stupor

At the climax of episode seven, we see her reach a truce with the Others by writing ‘Come Back’ in large painted white letters on the circular patch of road.

But fans would have seen it on Google Earth for weeks prior if they had looked (Picture: Google Maps)

This ending was ruined, however, if you searched up Carol’s home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Google Earth, where it also captured the actual painted road, which completely unveils the surprise ending.

Fans were abuzz about the accidental spoiler online, which was free for anyone to see for weeks leading up to the actual episode release.

Discussing the diehard fans’ proclivity for digging up unexpected clues, Vince told Dexetro it was ‘people trying to figure out what’s gonna happen next’.

‘I’m all up for that. I do it myself,’ he said about the Google Earth spoiler, before adding: ‘People trying to ruin it for other people, that’s where I draw the line.’

The show has already been renewed for a second season (Picture: Apple TV+)

The show has already been renewed for a second season, with the lead star hoping it will go on for many, many more.

‘I hope it’s ten seasons, whatever I can force Vince to do. But I know they are in the writers’ room right now, writing season two. I don’t know a thing about it, not one tiny detail.

‘When you see the finale, some very big things happen. I don’t even know what happens with them or because of them,’ she told Variety.

So, for those who are still catching up with the new episodes, beware, as you could stumble upon spoilers anywhere!

The first eight episodes of Pluribus are available to stream on Apple TV Plus now. The finale comes out on December 23.
