Move over Percy Jackson, Logan Lerman is headed to the Arconia. After years of fan-casting him in everything from âSpider-Manâ to âDungeons & Dragons,â as well as falling into âwhere is he now?â internet rabbit holes, Lerman just popped up in the most unexpected (but absolutely welcome) place: the cast of Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building.” And no, this wonât be some blink-and-youâll-miss-it cameo, heâs set to have âa recurring guest star roleâ (Variety), which is sure to make the hit series even more interesting.
Selena Gomez quietly broke the news on Instagram (as one does), according to People, by posting a behind-the-scenes group shot featuring herself, alongside other cast members⦠and Logan. Yep, just casually standing there like this isnât a major pop culture moment. As of now, Hulu hasnât revealed who heâs playing, but honestly? We donât even care yet. The fact that heâs in is enough to get us pressing play.
Murder? Again? Obviously.
Following the conclusion of Season 4, the new episodes for Season 5 will center around the suspicious death of Lester (Teddy Coluca), the Arconiaâs long-time doorman. Sad? Yes. Suspicious? Also yes. Toss in the Caputo crime family, some shady new tenants, and the return of our favorite true-crime podcast trio, and youâve got the recipe for another deliciously weird season.
Production kicked off in March 2025, per Forbes, who also predicted that the release date could be sometime in October 2025, if past production information stands true. And the Season 5 cast list just keeps getting wilder.Â
Weâve got returning leads Gomez, Martin, and Short (of course), plus new blood like Christoph Waltz, Renée Zellweger, Keegan-Michael Key, and Téa Leoni. Itâs basically a crime-solving Oscars afterparty at this point. And Logan Lerman? Heâs the wildcard; young enough to stir things up, but seasoned enough to hold his own with comedy legends.
Weâre Watching for the Vibes
At this point, âOnly Murdersâ is less about who did it and more about how chaotic the journey gets. With Logan stepping in, it feels like the showâs pulling in a new generation of viewers; banking nostalgia for âPercy Jacksonâ movie fans, plus a whole new character to obsess over.
So, what can we expect? No idea. And thatâs kind of the point. But with this cast? Season 5 is stacking up to be one of the best yet. Call it murder, mayhem, or just really good casting; but either way, one thingâs clear: Logan Lerman is finally back on our screens, and we are so here for it.
While we wait for more news on Season 5, fans can catch up on past seasons of âOnly Murders in the Buildingâ on Hulu.
