Singer-songwriter Glen Hansard has died at the age of 56 after a motorcycle crash in Dublin.
The Oscar-winning musician, who won the Academy Award for best original song alongside his Once co-star Markéta Irglová, died in the early hours of Wednesday morning, sources said.
As a founding member of the Irish band The Frames, Hansard initially rose to prominence in Alan Parker’s 1991 film The Commitments.
In 2007, he then starred in John Carney’s film Once, which was made on a modest budget of roughly £100,000.
The film went on to gross £11.2million worldwide, and featured the Oscar-winning song Falling Slowly.
