‘Outlander’ Fans Are Decoding the Prequel ‘Blood of My Blood’ Before It Even Airs

Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater on 'Outlander'

With “Outlander” nearing the end of its main run, fans are already looking to the future—or rather, the past. Starz’s upcoming prequel “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” promises to explore the origin stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents, and the network just gave viewers something juicy to dig into: all 10 episode titles for the new series.

Posted to the official “Outlander” Instagram account, the titles sparked immediate speculation among fans. Each slide in the post revealed a cryptic label, including “Providence,” “Needfire,” and “Luceo Non Uro”—a known MacKenzie family motto meaning “I shine, not burn.”

A prompt accompanied the slideshow: “What do these #BloodofMyBlood episode titles mean? You’ll find out starting August 8. Until then, drop your theories below…”

Fans, of course, did just that.

‘Outlander’ Fan Theories Range From Jacobite Rebellions to Potential Weddings

One fan was quick to pick up on the significance of episode 107, titled “Luceo Non Uro.” “It makes me think of “Outlander” episode 104, ‘The Gathering,’” they wrote, connecting the motto to Ellen MacKenzie’s defiance of clan tradition.

Others pointed to episode 110, “Something Borrowed,” as possible foreshadowing of a wedding. “Ooooohhh, ep 10 sounds like wedding time,” one viewer commented, suggesting it could mark either Ellen and Brian Fraser’s union or the marriage of Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.

The episode title “Providence” also caught attention. A fan recalled its use in season 4 of “Outlander,” linking it to themes of redemption and divine timing. One Instagram user expanded on the meaning:

“Providence is the quiet hand of God moving hearts toward one another… aligning time, place, and healing in such a way that love arrives exactly when both are ready.”

Others jumped to historical conclusions. Episode nine, “Braemar,” prompted discussion on Reddit, where one user noted it was the location where the 1715 Jacobite Rising began. This could hint at larger political storylines unfolding alongside the personal ones.

As for episode 102, “S.W.A.K.” (Sealed With A Kiss), fans suspect it could highlight the wartime letter-writing romance between Henry and Julia in WWI-era England.

Everything We Know About ‘Blood of My Blood’ So Far

“Outlander: Blood of My Blood” will premiere August 8 on Starz with a 10-episode first season. The series will follow two love stories: one set in 18th-century Scotland featuring Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and another in World War I-era England following Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).

The prequel is helmed by “Outlander” showrunner Matthew B. Roberts, with executive producers Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore also returning. Author Diana Gabaldon, whose novels inspired the franchise, is on board as a consulting producer.

“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples,” Roberts said. “The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods.”

Starz has already renewed the series for season 2—further proof the network has faith in this new chapter of the “Outlander” universe.

Until August 8, fans will continue to pore over every title and theory. If the prequel delivers the same emotional intensity and historical drama, it looks like the “Outlander” magic is far from over.
