Ozark Stars reunite at Netflix premiere

The New York red carpet of Netflix’s “Black Rabbit” on September 16 served as a bit of an “Ozark” reunion. Sofia Hublitz stepped out in support of her on-screen parents Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Bateman is one of the new show’s stars and director of episodes 1 and 2, and Linney directed episodes 3 and 4.

Linney and Bateman remain close friends and colleagues after starring as husband and wife in the Emmy-award-winning Netflix original show “Ozark.” This is not their first time sharing directorial credits, as they both also directed episodes of “Ozark.”

The pair posed for several photos together on the red carpet, later grabbing a photo inside the event with Hublitz, who played their on-screen daughter in the 4-season drama.

The trio’s nuanced performances helped “Ozark” become one of Netflix’s most acclaimed dramas, praised for its tense storytelling, morally complex characters, and powerhouse acting.

The on-screen family’s reunion at the “Black Rabbit” premiere not only delighted fans but also served as a reminder of the gripping legacy they built together on screen.

“Black Rabbit” also reunited Linney and Bateman with “Ozark” director Ben Semanoff, who directed episodes 5 and 6 of “Black Rabbit.”

Tonal Similarities Between “Ozark” and “Black Rabbit”

While “Black Rabbit” is a completely new story, audiences may notice echoes of the same dark and chaotic tone that made “Ozark” a must-watch, and not just because of the shared directors.

With Bateman both starring in and executive producing the series alongside Jude Law, “Black Rabbit” promises a world of complex characters, moral dilemmas, and simmering tension.

Bateman and Law play estranged brothers Vince and Jake, who are thrown together throughout this high-stakes thriller set in the New York City nightlife scene. The gritty restaurant scene delves deep into the chaotic lives of two brothers who founded it.

Just as “Ozark” thrived on blurred lines between right and wrong, Bateman’s latest family drama is expected to captivate audiences.

“Black Rabbit” is set to begin streaming September 18, only on Netflix.

Netflix Teases the Show’s Approaching Release

Netflix has taken to social media to add hype to the already heavily anticipated release of “Black Rabbit.”

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to dissect the new limited series’s similarities to other celebrated dramatic Netflix releases.

One X user wrote, “Is Netflix overusing the ‘troubled family + crime’ formula, or is it just endlessly compelling?”

“Can’t wait,” wrote another X user. “Jude Law and Jason Bateman together is an instant watch. Bring on the chaos.”

Fans also celebrated the sheer amount of behind-the-scenes content of Bateman and Linney from the set of “Black Rabbit,” which some felt was lacking on the set of “Ozark.”

Will “Black Rabbit” live up to the hype it’s already begun to receive from fans of “Ozark?” Tune in to find out.
