
Black Sabbath musician Ozzy Osbourne has died. He was 76.
His death was announced in a statement from his family on July 22. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy has passed away this morning,” the statement read, USA Today reports. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
The family also requested privacy during this difficult time, and the note was signed by his wife, Sharon, and four of his six children: Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.

Ozzy and Sharon had one of the most enduring love stories, and their relationship is celebrated for withstanding decades. They married in 1982. Together, the pair had three children, Jack, Kelly, and Aimee.
Before his marriage to Sharon, Ozzy was married to Thema Riley. The pair had two children, Jessica and Louis. The musician also adopted Elliot, Themaâs son from a previous relationship.
What Has Ozzy Osbourne Said About Fatherhood?
Ozzy was dedicated to his music, but he has also been open about his struggles with addiction, including how they impacted his approach as a father. In an interview with Variety in February 2021, he reflected on the incident that helped him realize he needed to change.
“My kids needed me ⦠I had a row with Jack. I had to talk business. And I said, ‘What have you ever (expletive) wanted? I’ll give you whatever you want,’” Ozzy told Variety. “He says, ‘What about a father?’ That kicked me in the (expletive) so hard. It knocked me sideways. I went, ‘Oh, my God.’ I’d give whatever materialistic things they ever wanted. But the most important person wasn’t there.”
Ozzy was also a loving grandfather, but he drew a hard line at changing diapers. In September 2023, Jack gave an interview to Fox News Digital about his father. “My dad is like, âHell, no. Like, no,’ ” he said of Ozzy changing diapers. “Because my dad’s in that era where, like, men don’t touch diapers. Like, that’s not that’s not what dads do.”
