Taylor Swiftâs first move after wrapping her âNew Heightsâ podcast taping? Hitting up Brittany Mahomes on FaceTime, giving Patrick Mahomesâ wife the scoop before anyone else.
During his press conference on August 13, a reporter asked the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback about this weekâs big Swift news. Given his close friendship with Travis Kelce, itâs no shock he was in the loop early.
Calling up Her Gal Pals
After Swift recorded the âNew Heightsâ episode with Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, it looks like Swift hopped on a video call with Brittany.
During a press conference at the Chiefs’ training camp on August 13, Patrick said: âI knew before yâall did, just because they called me after the podcast was done. They didnât call me, they called Brittany, and I was in the back of the FaceTime.â
As far as Swift deciding to appear on âNew Heights,â Patrick said he was âsurprisedâ by her decision.
âIâm obviously super excited. Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums,â Patrick continued. âItâs going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it. What better place to announce it than [the] âNew Heightsâ podcast?â
T12: âThe Life of a Showgirlâ
The rumors started up earlier this week that Swift, 25, was going to appear on Wednesdayâs episode of âNew Heights.â Then, on Monday, August 11, it was confirmed on the âNew Heightsâ Instagram page that she would be appearing on the show.
Hours later, Swift announced her upcoming album, âThe Life of a Showgirl.â
Swift will discuss the new album on the podcast episode, which Mahomes said gives her a chance to âbe herselfâ and âshowcase who she isâ while talking about this new record.
âI think people are going to be really excited to watch it tonight,â Patrick continued. âI havenât seen it yet. Iâve seen a little bit of the clips just like everybody else, but Iâll be tuned in tonight, I think itâs 7 Eastern. Iâll be able to have something to watch here on this night off that I have.â
Fan Theories Have Started
While we havenât even seen or heard Taylor discuss this new album yet, Swifties are out there with their thoughts and theories on what it all means.
One person commented, âManifesting a Vegas residency for her showgirl era.â Another fan added, âWhat if, instead of a tour, she sets up a Vegas residency at the Sphere and makes us come to her this time. Would certainly fit the theme of the new album, The Life of a Showgirl. â¤ï¸âð¥â
Another theory is the color scheme for the album, which is âan orange-and-mint theme. They say this is about copper oxidation and is a reference to the passage of time. Possibly, how pretty, shiny things can lose their luster right before our eyes.
The Eras Tour ran for two years, so many fans think they are going to turn it into a documentary, and the soundtrack for the doc will be âThe Life of a Showgirl.â One Swiftie wrote, âTHEORY: Life of a Showgirl will also lead the way to a new Eras Tour documentary, which will serve as a music video-like documentary featuring songs from the new album and BTS footage of the tour.â
For now, itâs all theories. However, we may get more details when the âNew Heightsâ episode drops on August 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
