Peter Kay announces new tour dates after he was forced to cancel shows for surgery

Peter Kay has announced a raft of new tour dates after he was forced to reschedule nights of his ongoing UK tour due to a routine surgery.

The Bolton comedian, 52, has been touring consistently ever since he announced his long-awaited comeback to stand-up comedy in 2022.

The Better Late than Never Tour is set to wrap up next year, but Kay has now announced a new set of dates for 2026, the profits of which will go to 12 cancer charities.

Kay shared news of the ‘last lot of shows’ during an appearance on The One Show, in which he read out all of the charities which will benefit.

Sitting alongside Rebel Wilson and Kiefer Sutherland on the red sofa, Kay said: ‘Unfortunately, everybody knows someone who’s been affected on that list and I just hope people support it. 

‘Come to the shows. That’s why I’m here. You don’t even have to like me to come. It goes beyond that. This is about supporting these charities. It will be lovely.

‘If it’s not funny, you get your money back,’ he joked to BBC One viewers, before adding: ‘You don’t.’

Appealing to those who are looking for something for a loved one this year, Kay concluded: ‘I hope you’ll come and do it. It’s a good Christmas gift and all. Don’t forget Christmas.’

It comes after Kay revealed that two shows in Nottingham would be moved from October to December due to a kidney surgery.

A statement posted to X (formerly Twitter) read: ‘We regret to inform you that due to a routine kidney stone procedure, Peter will be unable to perform his scheduled shows at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday 5th October and Monday 6th October.’

The statement continued: ‘Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover. All tickets remain valid for the new dates. If you are unable to attend, refunds will be available from your point of purchase.’

Kay’s Better Late Than Never Tour is the first string of live shows he’s performed ever since taking an extended hiatus in 2017, following the cancellation of his Have Gags, Will Travel tour.

In solidarity with his fans during the cost-of-living crisis, Kay ensured that tickets for his Better Late Than Never shows were available at prices they would have been charged in 2017.
