Born in London to Georgian parents and raised across Europe, d’Abo trained at the prestigious Drama Centre London before building a career across both stage and screen.

From International Upbringing to Global Fame

Although “The Living Daylights” brought her international recognition, d’Abo was careful not to be defined by a single role.

As per her IMDB page, she went on to take on a diverse mix of film and television projects, including the television miniseries adaptation of “Doctor Zhivago.”

Those choices reflected her interest in range and depth, even as Bond fame opened opportunities around the world.

Looking Back on an Iconic Bond Experience

d’Abo has often spoken fondly about her experience filming “The Living Daylights,” including her surprise at being cast in the role.

“I was shocked when I was chosen to play Czech cellist Kara Milovy in The Living Daylights – at just 5ft 6 and a half, I was not your typical Bond girl,” she said in an interview with Weekend magazine, as reported by The Daily Mail.

She also credited Dalton with helping her feel at ease throughout the production.

“Tim Dalton was wonderful at making me feel at ease and this was a very happy day in Morocco when I’d just done a stunt jumping off a wall. I was taught how to ride, and a favourite memory is of galloping into the desert one afternoon with Tim and all the stunt men – I was on a gorgeous white Arabian horse and was the only girl. I felt like Lawrence of Arabia.”

d’Abo has also taken on creative work behind the camera, building experience as both a producer and a writer. More recently, she has focused on character-led projects that value depth, perspective, and life experience.

Away from the public eye, d’Abo has kept much of her personal life private, while continuing to share her interest in travel, culture, and storytelling.

She remains a regular and warmly received presence at film festivals and Bond anniversary celebrations, where her portrayal of Kara Milovy continues to resonate with longtime fans and new audiences alike.
