Pierce Brosnan’s Secret to Looking Good at 72 Will Definitely Surprise You

You know how they say that some people just age like fine wine? Well, apparently, Pierce Brosnan ages as fine as…a pint of Guinness. At 72, “James Bond” is proving that some men really do age very well. The actor, who was born in County Louth, Ireland, recently revealed his “secret” to looking good these days, and let’s just say it’s indeed delightfully Irish.

“It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” Brosnan told Page Six at the New York premiere of his new Netflix movie, “The Thursday Murder Club,” on Aug. 14. He added with a grin that his father, Tom, also “had good hair,” before joking that it might also come down to a diet rich in “potatoes, butter” and “the Guinness.”

When pressed on his graceful aging, Brosnan laughed and replied with a humble and simple, “I’m doing my best!”

If that’s his best, we can’t wait to see what his “great” is.

Still Shaken, Not Stirred

Of course, Brosnan will always be remembered for his iconic portrayal as James Bond, playing the suave spy across four films between 1995 and 2002. And while Daniel Craig may have since passed the torch, according to People, Brosnan hasn’t completely ruled out a cheeky return. In a 2024 interview on the Today show, he teased that he “could get away with it, in a pinch,” adding, “Let’s see where the wind takes us. They know where to find me. Why not?”

He did acknowledge the role might not be entirely his anymore, saying, “I mean, there’s great things you can do with AI as well, so there you have it. I’m quite content the way it is.”

And content he should be, because Brosnan’s latest roles are winning him plenty of praise without a tuxedo or a martini glass in sight. So, if he ever does decide to come back, we’ll welcome him with open arms, but if not, we’re grateful he did it in the first place.

From Bond to Murder Clubs & Crime Bosses

Brosnan stars in “The Thursday Murder Club,” directed by Chris Columbus, alongside Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie. The movie, adapted from Richard Osman’s bestselling novel, follows a group of retirees who spend their golden years solving cold-case murders.

For Brosnan, it was a chance to reunite with Columbus, who directed him in “Mrs. Doubtfire.” “It’s a film that I hold close to my heart,” Brosnan said of the 1993 classic. “So when I got the call from Chris, that he was making a movie of “The Thursday Murder Club,” I was halfway there already. By the time I’d read the book by Richard Osman, I was completely hooked.”

Brosnan wasn’t alone on the red carpet. His 28-year-old son Dylan walked beside him at the premiere, sporting his own enviable locks. Clearly, the Brosnan family’s “Celtic hair” theory checks out. Whether it’s good genes, Guinness, or just an unbeatable Irish charm, Brosnan is still turning heads at 72 and showing no signs of slowing or aging.

Outside of Netflix, Brosnan is also earning strong reviews for his turn as a ruthless crime boss in the Paramount+ series “Mobland.” He admitted to Page Six that it feels good to be riding this wave of acclaim again, saying, “One can feel the wave, and you celebrate it and give thanks—it doesn’t happen that often!”
