Piers Morgan has come under fire after claiming Princess Diana’s mother called him up ‘drunk’.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter was appearing on a special edition of his YouTube show, The Royals Uncensored, hosted by Joe Elvin and Kate Nicholl, outside Lymphe Castle in Kent, along with special guest, royal butler Grant Harrold.

The group were discussing reports that Harry is planing a commemorative film to mark 30 years of his mother’s death, as well as the upcoming ‘bombshell’ memoir by Lord Earl Spencer expected to hit shelves later this month.

Piers said bringing back ‘the ghost of Diana’ in this way was ‘designed to be divisive with the Royal Family.

Charles’ former butler, Grant, asked Piers what Diana would have made of her family’s fractured relationship.

The Uncensored host insisted Diana would have hated her children not speaking. He then referred to Harry calling his step-mother Queen Camilla ‘evil’ in his 2023 autobiography, Spare.

Piers vented: ‘Camilla’s not evil by the way. Her and Charles is one of the great love stories, it really is.

‘They were always madly in love but Charles wasn’t allowed to be with her and ended up with Diana who was beautiful but came from a very damaged upbringing.’

He then went on to share private details of his conversations with Diana’s late mother, Frances Shand Kydd, who died aged 68 in 2004.

Diana and her mother had a turbulent relationship before her death in 1997, with Piers revealing he would often receive calls from Kydd.

‘Her mum used other ring me up drunk, I’ll be honest,’ he said. ‘She was an alcoholic, she’d ring up, we’d have long, difficult conversations, she sent me long letters all the time and that was just a little snap shot I got into how difficult it must have been for Diana with her mother.’

Former Big Brother star turned political commentator Narinder Kaur shared the clip, and wrote: ‘This is pretty low coming from Piers Morgan. Suggesting Diana’s mother was a drunk and how he and Camilla are chums (some deeply unfunny story about a Rhino).’

@royalfamilyrevd agreed: ‘Sullying Diana’s childhood like this is disgusting and shameful. Camilla-bestie Piers Morgan should retract this garbage.’

‘This is disgraceful,’ @LouiseReville2 shared on X with the clip, while @lisaxnicholsonx seethed: ‘So anyone and everyone can publish and say what they want about Diana but her brother and son can’t.’

@NaomiSky_15 tweets: ‘Wow Piers. Why is this s**t all coming up again. We don’t need to know about her mother’s drinking or any else about Diana.’

‘@ranahbarana added: ‘Speaking ill of the dead is the most evil thing a human does!
Princess Diana was the most beautiful, amazing woman that the royals hated and admired at the same time!’

Also on the programme, Piers continued to blast Harry and Meghan over of their return to Britain, claiming the news went down like a ‘sack of potatoes’ within the Royal Family.

He said: ‘They immediately see the problem, which is this having these rival renegades who, you know, in America, they’re known as the grifters, the royal grifters.

‘And they’re going to be grifting away to make themselves wealthy to pay for all the burgeoning costs, but they’re not going to be doing the shift work that the actual royals do.’

The Sussexes, however, are reportedly ‘happy to be back’ in the UK, settling their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet into their new schools.

‘There is a lot to do. They have just moved halfway across the world and it’s been really busy getting the kids settled,’ a source told People.

‘Their focus has been on that, and will remain on that, for the time being. They are happy to be back.’
