Piers Morgan’s eldest son has revealed why his dad threatened to cut him out of his will.

Beginning his career as a newspaper journalist, Piers went on to host the talk shows Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and Piers Morgan Live, as well as Good Morning Britain and Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Throughout his decades long career, the broadcaster has amassed a wealth estimated to sit around £20million.

However, his son Spencer has now explained a warning he was given if he wanted to inherit anything.

Despite following his dad into the media industry and working as a sports journalist since 2016, Spencer has repeatedly been approached to appear on various reality shows.

Asked which he’s been asked to sign up for, he replied: ‘Most of them.’

‘I’ve been asked to do SAS, Celebs Go Dating – stuff like that,’ he told The Sun.

However, he then explained the main reason he decided to turn them all down.

‘I’ve been asked for the last few years, but Dad said if I do any reality TV he will cut me out of the will. It’s always the deal.

‘I have to make the right choice on that one.

‘I’m A Celebrity is the only one I’ve never been asked to do.’

Spencer, who is in a relationship, also added that he’d rejected multiple offers appear on Love Island.

‘I’ve just been in talks, but I’ve got a girlfriend now,’ he explained.

Spencer, 30, is the eldest son of Piers and his first wife Marion Shalloe, a hospital ward sister.

The couple, who were married from 1991 until 2008, also had sons Stanley, 26, and Albert, 23.

Since 2010 Piers has been married to journalist Celia Walden. They share daughter Elise, 13.

Despite Piers’ ultimatum to his son, he did in fact appear on a reality show himself – winning the US celebrity version of The Apprentice in 2008, which was fronted by Donald Trump.

However, Spencer said that the fact his dad had already risen the ranks in his industry meant signing up for a reality show didn’t alter his career trajectory and public profile significantly.

Over the years Piers has also been a judge on America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent.

In the past he’s made his disdain for reality TV very clear – specifically Love Island, calling people who appeared on the ITV series ‘dim-wits’.

In 2018 he went head-to-head with solicitor Rosie Williams on GMB, scolding her for ‘giving up’ her law career to ‘try and have sex on the tv’.

However she hit back and told him: ‘I haven’t walked away from it. I can still go back if I want to, it’s not gone away.’

That same year Spencer joked about appearing on the show, posting a photo of his own branded water bottle, which are famous on the show.

He tagged his dad in the post, captioning it: ‘Sorry’. Taking the bait, Piers responded: ‘Wait, you’re not going IN there…are you?!?!’

Earlier this year Piers also revealed his fears that if he ever signed up to I’m A Celebrity, his own parents would ‘disown’ him.

‘One thing they always said to me was “Don’t ever do the jungle, I’m A Celebrity”. I always remember this and last week I got a call from ITV “Could we tempt you to do the jungle?”

‘And I went “There’s actually not enough money at ITV to get me to go in that jungle because my parents would disown me”. That for them was the red line.

‘So, you won’t ever see me munching kangaroo testicles, I’m afraid,’ he said on Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast.
