Pop icon Pink will host the 2026 Tony Awards, marking a rare occasion when an actor or performer from the Broadway community is not helming the annual awards show.
The entertainer was announced as the evening’s host by the American Theater Wing. Thus, she will helm the 79th annual awards show, honoring the best of Broadway.
Pink Calls the Moment ‘The Honor of a Lifetime’
In a press release, Pink shared her thoughts about hosting the Tony Awards.
âIt is the honor of an entire lifetime to host a night celebrating the literal hardest working people in showbiz,â said Pink. âBroadway has shaped my life and how I put my own shows together.
Furthermore, “It is a community that is supportive, and inclusive, and full of talent and love. These people give magic every single day, and I cannot wait to celebrate them with the entire world.â
âWhen I was asked to host the Tonys, I immediately thought, âI have to get permission from my daughter [Willow].â Iâve never been on Broadway, and shouldnât you have to have been on Broadway in order to host? That seems fair and right.”
“But when I asked my daughter, she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys. So Iâm hosting the Tonys, and Iâm really, really, excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!”
In an Instagram video, Pink rectified the fact that she had never appeared in a Broadway play or musical. Therefore, she stood in the wings of “The Great Gatsby” and stretched her leg onto the stage. “Now I’ve been on Broadway. I can host the Tonys.”
Thus, this will be the first time Pink has hosted any awards show. Previous Tony Awards Show hosts included Broadway veterans Cynthia Erivo, Ariana DeBose, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Pink is Welcomed By The Theatre Community With Open Arms
The entertainer is being openly welcomed by the theatre community and its fans with open arms and excitement. In a press statement, Heather Hitchens, President & CEO of the American Theatre Wing, and Jason Laks, President of the Broadway League, shared a message of delight.
âEach year, the Tony Awards create new theater fans around the world, expanding Broadwayâs reach and shaping its future,â they said. âOver the course of her extraordinary career, Pink has built one of the most passionate and enduring fan communities in the history of popular music, giving her a unique ability to bring even more people into this growing family. Simply put: we could not be more excited to get this party started.â
Additionally, 2026 Tony Award executive producers Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman shared a separate statement. “We are thrilled to welcome the incomparable Pink as the host of this yearâs Tony Awards. A fearless artist whose powerhouse voice, electrifying stage presence, and undeniable authenticity embody the very spirit of live performance and theatre. A passionate fan of Broadway, she brings a genuine love for the art form alongside her bold creativity and deep connection to audiences around the world, and we know she will deliver a fresh, dynamic energy to Broadwayâs biggest night!”
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement in the comments section of Pink’s Instagram post.
“Omg youâre going to be so amazing,” wrote one follower. A second fan penned, “So cool,” while a third fan “can’t wait.”
The Tony Awards will air on Sunday, June 7, 2026, live from New York’s Radio City Music Hall on CBS and Paramount+.
