Pop fans rejoice, the Scissor Sisters are finally working on another album, 14 years after their last recording together.
The band — now made up of Jake Shears, Del Marquis and Babydaddy — reunited for their 20th anniversary tour, and fans were ecstatic.
While headlining Glastonbury’s Woodsies stage at this year’s festival, the arena was so flooded with eager fans it was actually shut down to prevent overcrowding.
The group brought out some very special guests, including Sir Ian McKellen, for their first Worthy Farm performance since 2010.
Now, Jake has confirmed the Scissor Sisters are working on their first new album since 2012’s Magic Hour, which peaked at number four in the charts.
‘Scissor Sisters has always been about coming as you are, coming together and celebrating what it means to be a human being,’ he told The Sun.
‘And it’s exciting to look back but it’s really exciting to look forward too. We’re back in the studio making new music after a long time and the next chapter feels like it’s well under way.’
When previously speaking to Metro, the Scissor Sisters teased they had not ruled out returning to the studio, but were hoping that the magic of the tour might spark some songwriting energy – clearly it has.
The Scissor Sisters had a string of top 20 hits in the 00s, including Filthy/Gorgeous, I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, and Take Your Mama.

They secured three Brit Awards, three further nominations and a Grammy nod for their first two albums: Scissor Sisters and Ta-Dah.
This next chapter looks like it might continue without former bandmate Ana Matronic, who fans were devastated did not return for the reunion.
In the interview with Metro, Babydaddy said: ‘We really wanted to make sure [Ana] was asked to be a part of it [but] it was not something she wanted to do at the moment.’
‘I don’t think it’s really for us to question or push her to do something that doesn’t feel right,’ he continued. ‘We should all be doing this for the right reasons and with the right feeling in mind.
‘So I’m actually really proud of her for being able to say, “I don’t think this is right for me”.’
At the time, Ana was pursuing different projects and released a statement asking fans to respect the decision and sending love to her bandmates.
Jake added: ‘Her spirit is gonna be with us. Nothing stays the same. One of my mottos is “You can never go home again” and I think there’s so much truth to that.
‘It will be a different thing, and that’s very exciting to me, even though there’s a sadness to it as well. But it’s going to be exciting to see how it changes.’
