PS5 games have vanished from Steam in the UK and no one knows why

At least two PlayStation published games are no longer available for purchase on Steam and strangely it seems only the UK is affected.

Sony’s decision to stop porting its PlayStation exclusives to PC, specifically singleplayer games like Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros, was not a wholly popular one, but at least it never involved the company delisting existing PC ports.

And yet, at the time of writing, a couple of PlayStation 5 games are no longer available for purchase on Steam. Their Steam listings have vanished, replaced with a page that only reads, ‘This item is currently unavailable in your region.’

Even stranger, this issue only seems to be happening here in the UK and has only affected two games: Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition.

We checked the rest of Sony’s catalogue of games it’s published to Steam and everything else is accounted for. Plus, we had no issue finding Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West on the American Steam store.

It’s unclear when exactly both games vanished from Steam, but they’ve been absent since at least last night. While this means you can’t purchase them yourself, the games should still be available for those who already bought them.

Is this a sign that Sony plans on removing its games from PC so it can force new customers to get a PlayStation 5? No, Sony has already indicated that it’s an error and is working with Valve to get things fixed, although when that will happen is unknown.

The implication is that this is an issue on Steam’s end, although this is small potatoes compared to what happened last week. In case you missed it, many games had their Steam achievements leaked, which in turn has spoiled plot details for the likes of Fable, Persona 6, and Kingdom Hearts 4.

Some games that hadn’t even been announced yet were discovered through the leak too, including a new Twin Peaks game and, strangely, a new game based on the American sitcom Alf.

While Sony has no plans to remove its games from PC, its reputation has still been taking a hammering lately. Fans are still upset with its plans to abandon physical games after 2027, but it also cancelled Hideo Kojima’s Physint.

The game will now be published by Xbox, although it’s unclear if this means it will be an Xbox exclusive or will still see a multiplatform release. Given Xbox’s confusing stance on what’s exclusive and what’s not nowadays, it could go either way.
