Queen Camilla Has Made King Charles ‘the King He Wants to Be’

King Charles III is the monarch “he wants to be,” and it’s largely down to his wife, Queen Camilla. A body language expert says the queen, 77, has likely influenced the king, 76, “for the better” thanks to her pre-royal life.

According to body language expert Darren Stanton, Queen Camilla’s life before becoming a member of the British royal family has helped King Charles come into his own. As he told <a href=”https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/royals/king-charles-queen-camilla-loosen-up-confidence-lost-without-her-body-language-expert/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Marie Claire on behalf of <a href=”https://casino.betfair.com/p/slots” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Betfair Slots, growing up outside of palace walls likely influenced King Charles “for the better.”

“She is from an affluent background but with less rules and regulations,” Stanton said. “She’s shown Charles he can loosen up and be more loving. I think Camilla has made Charles feel confident to be the King he wants to be, and do things his way.”

Stanton also suggested King Charles is more comfortable talking to members of the public as a result of the confidence boost from Queen Camilla. “He loves to connect and be present and accessible,” the body language expert said.

“His willingness and easiness to shake hands and hug people, look them in the eye, match and mirror body language shows growth,” he explained, noting King Charles “has much less distance.” (Prince Harry previously described distance as “essential” to royal life.)

As for body language clues, like keeping his hands at his sides and not fidgeting, Stanton claimed that King Charles is all confidence these days. “His eye contact is very good, and he maintains it for a normal amount of time, which helps build trust and rapport quickly,” the expert explained.

He also noted conversation flows much more naturally for King Charles. “He’s much happier to talk and ask questions and seems genuinely interested,” Stanton said. “He clearly doesn’t take himself too seriously, which is great.”

Queen Camilla is not the only one who has had an impact on the king. So has his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales, 42, reportedly gave King Charles advice to open up more in public.

“Charles used to seem like a very standoffish guy—and he didn’t do much to make himself more likable or accessible to the public,” a source told Life & Style. “Because she loves spending time with him,” they explained, “Kate’s been giving Charles a little nudge recently to let his guard down and provide the world with a glimpse of the Charles she admires.”

That would be a “guy with a silly sense of humor” who is “easygoing, [and] eager to listen to stories.” King Charles “listened” to the future queen’s “advice,” telling “those closest to him that, even at his age, he’s still learning lessons from Kate.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
