A leaked logo for Rayman Legends Retold seems to be real and comes right before an official reveal rumoured for next week’s State of Play.

Ubisoft hasn’t been shy about its intentions to bring back Rayman, its original 90s mascot, into the spotlight, especially since it was the character’s 30th anniversary last year.

While there’s no sign of a wholly new game yet, the very first Rayman game did see a special re-release earlier this year, and there have been persistent rumours of a Rayman Legends remake.

Now, a number of leaks regarding said remake have dropped, starting with a new logo that has given away its full title: Rayman Legends Retold.

The logo was shared by X account asdf, which has previously leaked a screenshot from a trailer for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, before its formal announcement.

Insider Gaming, the original source of rumours regarding the Rayman Legends remake, has corroborated the logo’s validity, adding that a formal reveal is expected to drop next week, followed by a release on October 1.

Next week will see several game showcases, including Summer Game Fest, but insider NateTheHate has chimed in to say that the remake will appear during the Sony State of Play on Tuesday, June 2.

Rayman Legends is a slightly odd choice for a remake. Aside from the fact that in terms of gameplay and graphics it already holds up very well, it’s still readily available across most platforms.

It does lack dedicated versions for current gen consoles, like the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, but a simple re-release would be more than enough. If anything, its predecessor, Rayman Origins, would’ve made more sense for a remake, as it’s stuck on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii consoles.

Legends is the better game but interestingly, NateTheHate says, in his ResetEra post, that the Rayman Legends remake will have ‘new content and more’ and ‘it’ll impress and surprise people,’ later adding that it will be ‘2.5D with some 3D sections.’

For the uninitiated, Rayman Legends does have 3D graphics but is a purely 2D platformer, so this remake sounds like a far more substantial overhaul than initially expected. This would also technically make it the first 3D Rayman game since 2003’s Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

Amusingly (or frustratingly depending on your viewpoint), Ubisoft’s choice of an October release date shows the company hasn’t learned from its mistakes regarding the original Rayman Legends’ release.

For context, Ubisoft decided to release Rayman Legends just a couple of weeks before GTA 5, which no doubt contributed to its poor launch sales. And now the remake is said to be scheduled to drop about a month before GTA 6.

Not to mention it’s launching less than a week before a brand new Star Wars game – Star Wars: Galactic Racer – which comes out on October 6.

Despite how much effort Ubisoft seems to be putting into reviving Rayman, you’d think the company would want new games to launch in as quiet a period as possible.
