The Vardys are the latest celebrity couple to lift the lid on their lives in a tell-all docuseries – but fans are not convinced at all.

We’ve seen the Beckhams argue over a Rolls-Royce, we’ve watched the Ramsays build the next part of their food empire, and now we have The Vardys, who are eyeing up a move from Leicester to Lake Garda in Italy (talk about an upgrade).

Of course, the first episode dedicates a chunky segment to Rebekah Vardy’s most high-profile moment: Wagatha Christie.

She discussed the extensive trolling she was subjected to after Coleen Rooney accused her of leaking stories to the press and her (failed) attempts to debunk the claim.

In an interview with The Times, she said she was ‘treated worse than a paedophile’ during the height of the frenzy.

Meanwhile, in the documentary, she shared her strength got hr through it, but that ‘hell would freeze over’ before she apologised for something she insists she didn’t do.

Otherwise, we see the couple and their five children reckon with moving their lives over to a new country and leaving familiar pastures behind in a three-part docuseries.

There are highs, there are lows, but evidently not enough of them to keep viewers remotely interested in the series.

‘The Vardys is the most boringggg show I’ve ever watched in my lifeee omg,’ X user Jade Mc wrote.

‘The Vardys: Oh my god, there’s another episode of this car crash?!’

‘Who thought it was a good idea to have a documentary about them?’ Julia James asked.

‘That is an hour of my life that I’ll never get back,’ Tranquillity wrote.

LynnBirt4306 declared ‘ITV had wasted some serious money’ and Yvonne simply said ‘it’s a no from me’.

In fact, the most glowing reaction I could find was Michelle Varney saying it was ‘good but nowhere near as good as the Furys’.

It’s a sentiment echoed by critics.

The Guardian’s one-star review brutally prophesied the show would ‘disappoint every single person who tunes in’.

The Independent agreed ‘it has all the makings of a reality classic. But it’s actually deeply dull’ while The Telegraph posed it ‘badly needs some Wagatha whoomph’.

The new show comes the same year that Jamie Vardy did a Netflix documentary about his rise to the top – Untold UK: Jamie Vardy.

That was one of the reasons the couple decided to bite the bullet and agree to cameras following them around during this pivotal point in their family life.

After saying no every time they’ve been approached, it was finally a yes.

‘It was the perfect opportunity because we had something new to talk about.

‘We had something new in terms of we were moving to Italy, uprooting our whole family, and it was just like, ‘If we’re gonna do it, now is the perfect time to do it,’ she told Radio Times.

Meanwhile, reflecting on the abuse flung her way in person at games, she added: ‘I think it’s disgusting, and I think it’s so misogynistic. But at the end of the day, I’m human.

‘Of course it bothers me sometimes, but in the tough times, I remind myself why I put myself in those situations, and that’s because I’m there to support my husband and that alone.’

The Vardys is available to stream on ITVX now.
