Ree Drummond has launched a new series that she hopes is a recipe for success!
The âPioneer Womanâ just posted the first episode of âDrummond Ranchâ on her YouTube channel by the same name.
And if you’re expecting to learn some new recipes, think again.
The episode, which runs a little more than seven minutes long, gets Ree’s fans out of her kitchen and onto the ranch run by husband Ladd Drummond.
âDrummond Ranchâ shows a different side of the cowboy Ree has always affectionately referred to as her âMarlboro Man.â
Episode one is called “Welcome to the Drummond Ranch! An Overview of the Operation.”
In it, Ree’s oldest daughter Alex explains the ranch’s legacy. “It’s a pretty, like, special thing we have going on out here. Me and all my siblings come from a long line of ranchers. And not a lot of people really get to see things like this of a big family working together.”
She goes on, “I really honestly love it. If you could’ve met my grandpa.. he taught my dad everything he needs to know and now my dad is teaching us everything we need to know.”
New Series is a Family Affair for the Drummonds
The new series is very much a family affair for the Drummonds.
In the trailer for âDrummond Ranch,â Ladd says, âBeing a cowboy was without a doubt what I was going to do. You have a responsibility to do the best job you can. To be the best steward or manager or caretaker of the gifts that youâve been given.â
The series also features the Drummonds’ now grown-up children.
In a blog on her Pioneer Woman page, Ree writes, âPaige plays a prominent role, as she was just moving home to work on the ranchâthe first sibling to do so, which made for an interesting dynamic. Bryce was home from college and football for the summer, as was Todd. Again: A lot of things were captured!â
In fact, the one Drummond you’ll see a lot less of than you might expect is Ree herself!
She writes, âI play only a supporting role in this series!â
In an Instagram post, Ree writes, âThe real stars are the cowboys (and cowgirls!), cattle, horses, weather, markets, ups, downs, and everything in between.â
âThe Drummond Ranchâ Makes Ree Feel Nostalgic
Episode one does show Ree Drummond’s nostalgic side.
In the episode, Ree laughs, “I’ve never been the glue that holds this ranching operation together… Over time, I was there a lot taking pictures and video and writing stories about the kids growing up on the ranch. Really, that’s what I miss is being there when they were little. Over time we all got busy. Of course I got busy with my show and writing cookbooks. And the boys got busy with football. The girls had volleyball and soccer.”
But Ladd might disagree with Ree about the role she still plays on the ranch. “I always enjoy having her around,” he says. “She shows up, she’s got a smile, you know, I always tell the kids ‘you need to be like her, less like me.’ You know, you never see her mad, never see her with a bad attitude. And that makes life more enjoyable.”
