Camila Mendes is engaged! The “Riverdale” and “Masters of the Universe” star is engaged to Rudy Mancuso, who popped the question on Friday, October 24, during a surprise proposal, according to a representative who spoke to People.
“She thought she was going to a birthday party for producing partner Rachel Matthews, but it was a surprise engagement party instead,” a source told People. “Rudy proposed to her in front of their family and friends.”
The insider revealed that the pair felt like keeping the party going, and “[a]round 11 p.m., they were still celebrating, so they went to Glen Powellâs tracksuit and tequila-themed birthday party.”
Fans started buzzing about a potential romance between the pair back in November 2022, when Camila posted a photo of Rudy kissing her on the cheek (per People). They then confirmed their relationship in 2023 on Valentine’s Day, when Camila took to Instagram to share a pic of the couple kissing and writing, “Meu valentine. te amo so much.”
Camila & Rudy Had Immediate Chemistry
Camila and Rudy originally met during her screen test for the romantic comedy Música.
“We have this two-minute silent footage, because there was no audio on the day, this silent footage of us talking and interacting, and we have it all recorded so you can see that there’s this exciting energy and this giddiness,” Camila told People while speaking about their first meeting.
Rudy agreed, saying, “It’s safe to say there was chemistry from the moment we met, and it certainly was visible onscreen.”
He added that he didnât think “either of us expected it to be as intense and move as quickly as it did.”
It was then Camila’s turn to agree, noting that they “just understood things about each other that I think it’s hard for other people to understand.”
“It worked out because we were getting to know each other off-set, and we got to play out that dynamic in real-time, in front of the camera, as we got to know each other as our characters,” Camila continued. “And so there was this natural kind of charismatic chemistry.”
Camila Sent Rudy a Special Valentine’s Day Message
It’s clear that these two share something special, and they’re occasionally willing to give fans a glimpse at their love. For instance, on February 14, 2024, Camila shared a special message on Instagram to and about Rudy.
