Beloved filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, have passed away. The tragic news was shared on December 14, when it was reported that their daughter had found them dead in their Brentwood, California home, People reports. Reiner was 78, and Singer was 68.
The couple shares three children. Their oldest son is Jake Reiner, who was born in 1991. He also has two siblings: Nick, born in 1993, and Romy, born in 1997. The âWhen Harry Met Sallyâ director was also the father of actress Tracy Reiner. He adopted Tracy while married to her mother, actress Penny Marshall. Reiner and Marshall were married from 1971 until 1981.
Meet Jake Reiner
Jake followed in his fatherâs footsteps and chose a career in the entertainment industry. He is also an actor. He shared a close relationship with his father, and the pair gave a joint interview to People in 2023. In it, they discussed their love of baseball and how they regularly watched games together.
This passion for the sport was started by Jakeâs grandfather, Carl Reiner. “My dad was a huge, huge baseball fan. He passed it onto me, and I passed it onto Jake,” Robert told People. Jake also weighed in, saying, âMy dad and I talk daily about the Dodgers,” Jake said. “I’ve got a lot of opinions, and so does he.”
They shared many special memories, including a trip to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. “We sat down in this theater there and they start showing the history of when Black players first came into the league. I’m sitting there next to Jake and I’m just tearing up,â Robert recalled of the emotional moment. âThe lights come up and we hear that this exhibit is new. It’s designed to make a grown man cry. I said, ‘Wow. You succeeded because the whole idea of fathers passing the game down to their sons was beautiful and personal. My dad passed it to me and now I’m sitting here passing it to him.”
A Glimpse Into Jake Reinerâs Life
An Instagram account believed to belong to Jake shares a glimpse into his life. His last post on Instagram was from nine weeks ago when he attended a wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada. The photos show him smiling. He also has a partner, and the pair appear to be very happy together.
In another Instagram post from May 15, Jake shared photos from a premiere he had attended for âThings Like This.â He shared his thoughts in the caption, writing, âNew York & LA premieres of @thingslikethismovie! In theatres everywhere TOMORROW! (May 16).â
