Robert Pattinson Reveals Being a Dad Has Led to ‘Normie Conversations’ & ‘Strange’ Behavior

Robert Pattinson

Being a parent can make you realize things about yourself as well as change you. This is what Robert Pattinson has learned since welcoming his daughter — whose name has been kept private — into the world in March 2024 with his fiancée, Suki Waterhouse. In fact, he’s learned that’s he’s relatively chill, likes to hang out with little ones and is now willing to talk about (or, rather, is unable to resist talking about) “normie” things.

“I have so much more patience,” Pattinson told Icon Magazine in an interview that will come out on Tuesday, October 14 (and for now has been quoted in an Instagram post). He then added, “It’s funny, it’s not even patience; I genuinely enjoy hanging out with babies. That surprised me.”

“It’s also funny how you start having real, normie conversations — about things like schools or daycares … it’s so strange,” he added. “It’s like, there’s this gravitational pull … Like, I have to wear Patagonia puffer jackets and cargo shorts now. I just have to.”

This isn’t the first time Pattinson has opened up about being a dad and having a daughter. In February he told Extra, “I hate boasting about it, but my daughter’s been, like, the most incredible sleeper since birth.”

He also talked to Extra about one of his impressive parenting skills, saying, “I’m an expert, like, the stealth nappy when the baby doesn’t even know they’ve had their nappy changed.”

As for whether or not he would do a movie for kids now that he has a little one himself, he didn’t deny the possibility, saying, “I’m always kinda open to anything.”

Pattinson may have taken on some serious roles over the years — “The Batman,” “The Lighthouse” and “The Devil All the Time” just to name a few — however, his life as a dad is rather enjoyable. In fact, he told BBC News that life has been “more fun” since he became a father.

During the London premiere for his film “Mickey 17,” he told the BBC that he had thought he’d be “less danger prone” when his child was born. Instead, he says “it’s very joyful”.

“If someone told me I was going to die in a week, I’d be like, ‘What? I want to spend some more time with my kid’,” he said. He then laughed and admitted: “That’s a very deep answer.”
