Natalie Wood may be gone, but she’s never forgotten. Wood’s widower, actor Robert Wagner, keeps his late wife close to his heart even decades after her passing.

Robert Wagner Remembers Late Wife Natalie Wood

Robert Wagner shared a touching tribute to late wife Natalie Wood on the 44th anniversary of her death.

“Thinking of Nat today,” Wagner, 95, captioned a Saturday, November 29, Instagram post. “Her warmth, beauty, and love remain with us through our children and grandchildren. Forever missed, forever cherished. More than love.”

The “Pink Panther” star rarely lets an anniversary or birthday go by without acknowledging his lost love. In July, he publicly wished Wood a happy birthday via Instagram.

“Happy Heavenly 87th Birthday, Nat,” Wagner captioned a sweet throwback photo of the couple.

Details on Natalie Wood’s Tragic Death

The beloved “Rebel Without a Cause” actress tragically passed away in November 1981 during a boat trip to California’s Catalina Island.

Wagner, actor Christopher Walken — who was starring alongside Wood in “Brainstorm” at the time — and skipper Dennis Davern were also aboard the couple’s yacht, Splendour, when tragedy struck.

The circumstances surrounding Wood’s drowning remain unclear, but her body was discovered in the water one mile from the boat on the morning of November 29. She was 43.

Wagner and Walken, now 82, have remained tight-lipped about the events that took place aboard the ship, however, Wagner opened up about the aftermath of her death in his 2016 memoir.

“When Natalie died, I thought my life was over,” he recalled in “I Loved Her in the Movies: Memories of Hollywood’s Legendary Actresses.” “Luckily, I had the help of a great many people who loved her and who loved me as well.”

He continued, “I thought I would never get up, you know? My children helped me heal. And my friends were so supportive. And slowly I was able to get up. I got on my feet but it was very, very difficult and a sad time.”

Wagner and Wood were married in 1957 but divorced in 1962. They re-married in 1972 after reconciling. The couple shared two daughters, Courtney and Natasha — whom Wagner adopted from Wood’s previous marriage after her death.
