Romcom hailed as ‘delightful and sexy’ now available to stream on Amazon Prime

The Threesome on Amazon Prime has been getting rave reviews, as viewers praise this new ‘sexy’ romantic comedy.

Romcoms often are the poorer genre when it comes to cinema, and over the years has the perfect breeding ground when it comes to completely unspectacular drivel.

However, in recent years, some filmmakers have attempted to reinvent the wheel and plough time and money into making some truly fantastic films which have finally revived the beloved genre.

A new contender attempting to push the envelope is The Threesome, a film starring The Little Mermaid’s Jonah Hauer-King, Set It Up’s Zoey Deutch, and Bottoms’ Ruby Cruz.

The film focuses on Connor (Hauer-King), a nice chap who finds himself accidentally impregnating two women after he was steered into a threesome with his irreverent long-time crush, Olivia (Zoey Deutch) and an enticing stranger, Jenny (Ruby Cruz). 

While the synopsis sounds like it could easily fall into being a bit of a goofy story, the film has been getting rave reviews from audiences and critics who were completely stunned by the quality of this heartfelt comedy.

The film has a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics calling it a ‘rare’ gem that is refreshingly thoughtful.

Catherine Bay for The Guardian commented: ‘This is an all too rare romcom that delivers on every level. If you’re looking for well-drawn characters caught up in an outlandish situation that generates plenty of laughter and sentiment, look no further. Oh, and it’s sexy too.’

Tara McNamara for Common Sense Media said: ‘The movie’s risque title delivers on its promise, but this randy romp doubles as a refreshingly thoughtful lesson about responsibility.’

Cameron Ritter for Geeks Vibes Nation said: ‘Overall, The Threesome is a smart romantic comedy that subverts expectations and brings out amazing performances from its core trio.’

‘The Threesome (2025) Suprisingly more heartfelt than I expected and it is very entertaining and enjoyable with good performances by the three leads, with great chemistry. It is really funny with some really witty dialogue and it is really charming and delightful,’ said modytalkmovies on X.

Deadline also praised the film as ‘sweet, sexy and smart,’ with Pete Hammond emphasising the quality of the cast: ‘ Director Chad Hartigan (This Is Martin Bonner, Morris From America) expertly keeps this soufflé from crumbling, never letting it go over the top, which it easily could have done.

‘Fortunately, this is a terrific cast that also avoids overplaying the melodramatic undertones here, keeping it believably human all the way.’
