The subdued gathering reflected a moment of closeness and support as the Reiner family continues to grieve and adjust to a loss that has deeply impacted both their private world and the broader entertainment community.

A Quiet Birthday by the Beach

Romy was photographed outside a beach house on Saturday as she marked her 28th birthday on December 27, according to images obtained by the Daily Mail. She kept a low profile during the daytime outing, bundling up in a sweater and pants. See the photos here.

Her boyfriend, Alex Silberberg, was also seen at the gathering and was photographed walking a dog along the shoreline. The outlet reported that the couple has been staying at the beach house since the deaths of Rob and Michele at their Brentwood, Calif., home on December 14.

The birthday gathering was described as quiet and intimate, with the focus on being together rather than celebrating, as they navigate this tragic loss.

Romy lived across the street from her parents and was the one who found them, according to sources who spoke to The Post. In the weeks since that unimaginable loss, those close to the family say she has been surrounded by care, support, and love.

Her older brother, Jake Reiner, 34, has quietly stepped into a protective role, becoming a steady presence as the family grieves together. Friends describe him as the emotional anchor during a time when everything feels uncertain.

“Jake has had to step into a paternalistic role,” a source told the Daily Mail. “His motto is ‘family first’ — that’s something Rob and Michele had always prioritized and taught their children.”

Those close to the Reiners say Jake has focused on creating stability and comfort, making his sister’s well-being his top priority as she continues to process the loss.

Through shared time, togetherness, and mutual support, the siblings are leaning on one another while honoring the values their parents held closest.

Jake Reiner Steps Into a Protective Role

Romy realized something was wrong after receiving a call from her parents’ massage therapist, who reached her at the gate, according to sources. She rushed to the home and called 911, then reached out to her father’s longtime friend, Billy Crystal, for support.

Paramedics later confirmed that both Rob and Michele had been killed inside the house.

“That horrific experience shattered her,” the source said.

“Jake is determined to get his sister through this,” the insider added. “It’s an enormous burden, but he’s the oldest, and he sees it as his duty.”

In the days that followed, Jake also stepped in to take on the family’s practical responsibilities. He traveled to Mount Sinai Mortuary in Los Angeles to collect his parents’ cremated remains.

He and Romy are now working together to plan a memorial service that is expected to bring together many of Rob’s longtime friends from the entertainment industry.

Inside the Ongoing Case as the Reiner Family Chooses Privacy

As the family continues to grieve, their brother Nick Reiner, 28, remains in custody. He was arrested shortly after Rob and Michele were found dead and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, as reported by the BBC.

As per Page Six, Nick is currently being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility and is scheduled to be arraigned on January 7.

According to TMZ, he plans to plead not guilty. Prosecutors have also filed a special circumstance allegation tied to the killing of more than one person.

For now, those close to the Reiners say Jake and Romy are prioritizing privacy and togetherness as they face the holidays and an uncertain path forward.

“They are sheltering from the storm, both literally and emotionally,” a source said, as per The Daily Mail. “They all felt it was really important to come together as a family for the festive week and to mark Romy’s birthday, however subdued the celebrations.”

As the legal process unfolds, Jake’s focus remains steady.

“Family first” is no longer just a value their parents instilled. It is the guiding principle carrying them through grief, loss, and the difficult days ahead.
