Nowadays, movie studios often have no idea which original movies will become big hits. This is the case as moviegoers are more likely to wait until they can watch new films at home. However, the “Sinners” movie has gone on to be one of the biggest of the year, grossing more than $362 million.Â
Because of its success, most would assume that it would be quite some time before the movie is released on a streaming service. Despite still performing well in theaters, the film is now available for digital purchase, allowing people to watch it at home. Still, it won’t be long before the vampire film has a streaming release date.
When Does “Sinners” Go to Streaming
According to Deadline, the Ryan Coogler-directed and Michael B. Jordan-led movie “Sinners” will be released on streaming on July 5th. Notably, its streaming home will be Max, which is, of course, also home to several other notable films.Â
So, why is the “Sinners” movie going to Max and not some other streaming platform, such as Netflix or Hulu? Essentially, this is the case because “Sinners” is a Warner Bros film, and this is the same company that distributed it.Â
Many wonder how long they have to wait for a theatrical movie to be released on a streaming service. The answer is that it depends on the movie studio. For Warner Bros, they previously used a 45-day window. However, the company now bases its decision on how long the film remains viable at the box office.Â
For “Sinners,” the movie has now been out for almost 10 weeks. Notably, it remained in the box office top 10 the weekend ending June 15th and earned an additional $1,531,821. As of the time of writing, there are still several showings of the film in various theaters.Â
What Is Ryan Coogler Doing Next?
Of course, Ryan Coogler was a successful movie director before the “Sinners” movie took the world by storm. However, this film’s success took his status up a notch, and everyone wants to know what he’ll work on next.
According to Variety, he’s planning to reboot “The X-Files.” He said in a recent podcast, “Iâve been excited about that for a long time, and Iâm fired up to get back to it.” He went on, “Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really scary.”
As for when his “X-Fies” reboot will go into production, Ryan stated that it was “immediately next.” Still, that doesn’t mean the show will be on the screen anytime soon.Â
