Another Hollywood icon is proving that age is nothing but a number. Award-winning actress Sally Field is making 78 look better than ever. The legendary actress, known for roles in âForrest Gump,â âNorma Rae,â and âAbsence of Malice,â attended the Television Academyâs 27th Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony at the JW Marriott LA.
Hair Goals: Embracing Aging With Confidence
Fieldâs sparkling blue look wowed on the carpet, yet it was her gorgeous gray hair that made the biggest statement.
âMrs. Doubtfire” actress joins a growing list of actresses, including Salma Hayek, Lorraine Bracco, and Hilarie Burton, who embrace their natural gray with pride.
In Her 70s, Field Finds New Wisdom
Earlier this year, she reflected on aging during an appearance on Julia Louis-Dreyfusâs podcast Wiser Than Me.
âThere is a sense in society that you should feel ashamed for being old ⦠and I realized what a crock that is,â Field said. She added that letting go of people-pleasing in her 70s has given her a new sense of confidence.
With Two Oscars, Field Finally Looks Back on Her Success
With two Oscars for Best Actress and a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild, Field remains one of Hollywoodâs most credible stars.
Despite her legendary career, she admitted to Variety in 2022 that sheâs only recently allowed herself to appreciate her accomplishments.
âIâve always felt I had to keep my head down, that you canât look up, you can never pat yourself on the back. You just have to look for the next place to land,â she said.
Field remains both hopeful and realistic about Hollywoodâs future. When asked if she believes there will ever be true parity in an industry still dominated by men, the two-time Oscar winner didnât hesitate.
âWeâre never going to not be fighting,â she said, again a reminder that her resilience, both on screen and off, continues to define her legacy.
Field’s Most Favorite Role: Motherhood & Grandparenting
Beyond Hollywood, Field is the proud mother of three sons, Peter, Eli, and Sam, and grandmother to five grandchildren.
She has often said that becoming a mother âsaved her life,â but she admits grandparenting isnât as simple as people believe.
âYou have to get to know a whole different group of people, and they are raised by different people, so you have to know what that framework is,â she explained.
âAnd then you have to find a place that you land together. Someplace that belongs just to the two of you⦠Otherwise, youâre just a glorified babysitter.â
Now in her late 70s, Field says every new decade feels monumental and sheâs excited to see what comes next.
