Sam Thompson has shared the prized item his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott nabbed after their breakup last January.
The Made in Chelsea star, 33, and Love Island icon, 28, are both in new romances as we enter the festive period this year, but there are still lingering reminders of their five-year relationships lurking about.
In a new episode of the Staying Relevant podcast, co-hosted by Sam and Towie star Pete Wicks, the reality star opened up about a fondly remembered wardrobe item that has a new home with his ex.
When asked what he would wear to a classy showbiz event, he joked that it had to be the Crocs for ‘shock value. Get the jelly shoes on.’
Despite enthusiasm for the idea, Pete noted: ‘You haven’t worn the Crocs for some time now because you…’ to which Sam jumped in and said: ‘Yeah Zara took them’.
At Pete’s ‘oh God’, with a haunted look in his eye, Sam said: ‘I need a new pair of Crocs. I actually don’t have any Crocs.’
He drew plenty of attention for wearing a pair of crocs at the 2023 NTA awards, so he definitely has the track record for pulling them off in and out of the home.
During the same podcast episode, Pete confirmed he’s ‘got a girlfriend’ and has started dating model Talitha Balinska.
Discussing how the budding love story came about, he said he reconnected with her when she was invited to his live show at the O2 Arena.
On the moment he asked her to be his girlfriend, he added: ‘Mate, it was just super relaxed. It was so boring, really, but that’s kind of how I wanted it to be.
‘We just went for dinner, and I was like, “I really like you”. And I just went, “I’d love to be your boyfriend”. I don’t know why I’m panicking more now!’
He continued his retelling, saying: ‘Yeah, I just said: “Look, I really, really like you, and you make me feel really… comfortable. I feel like I can be myself around you. I don’t want to be dating anyone else.
‘I’m 33, I wouldn’t be dating someone this amount of time if I didn’t think it had legs to last. So will you be my girlfriend?” And she said “yes”. And so I said: “Great”.’
His new relationship comes months after Zara started dating One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, with the pair regularly seen at public events together.
Opening up about how his love life influenced his music in an interview on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast, Louis said: ‘I’m a deeply, deeply romantic person.
‘It’s also easy to be romantic when you are a creative those things are tied. But I think for me, I really struggle to write in a fictional sense, I really struggle.
‘‘For me, I have to have been living it it has to be literal, it has to be real to me. So, if I wasn’t feeling so good, like right now, I wasn’t feeling so in love, the record probably would have a slightly different feel to it.
‘Just ’cause things like that are in everything I, we do.’
