In Hollywood, past romances never stay buried â and Sarah Jessica Parkerâs newly confirmed fling is proof that old flames can still spark headlines today. More than 30 years after they first sparked speculation, Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed she once dated Nicolas Cage.
Metro UK reported that the âSex and the Cityâ icon, 60, opened up about the long-rumored relationship during a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen“.
Parker Met ‘Him’ While Filming ‘Honeymoon in Vegas‘
After discussing how she knew her husband, Matthew Broderick, was “the one,” host Andy Cohen asked directly about Cage. âUm, yes, I did [date him],â Parker said, which surprised Cohen. âOh wow. Weâve got some talking to do,â he replied, visibly stunned. You can watch the episode here.
Parker and Cage met while filming the 1992 rom-com âHoneymoon in Vegasâ, which began production in 1991. Their on-screen chemistry quickly sparked off-screen buzz.
At the time, Parker was newly acquainted with Broderick, whom she met through her brothers in 1991. The couple went on to marry in 1997 and have remained together ever since.
A Look Back at Cageâs Relationship Timeline
While Parker found long-term love with Broderick, Nicolas Cage’s romantic history has made headlines of its own. He married his first wife, Patricia Arquette, in 1995. They divorced in 2001. He later wed Lisa Marie Presley in 2002, but the marriage lasted just 107 days.
In 2004, Cage married Alice Kim, with whom he shares a son, Kal-El, 19. They split in 2016.
A brief marriage to Erika Koike followed in 2019, ending in annulment four days later and divorce three months after. Cage is now married to Riko Shibata, and the couple welcomed daughter August in 2022. He also has a son, Weston, 34, with actor Christina Fulton.
Parkerâs Relationship History Before Broderick
Before settling down with Broderick, Parker had several high-profile romances of her own.
She dated her “Footloose” co-star Chris Penn and later had a long-term relationship with Robert Downey Jr., whom she met on the set of âFirstbornâ in 1984. They were together for seven years before splitting in 1991, the same year she was briefly linked to John F. Kennedy Jr.
Of that relationship, Parker previously said the overwhelming media attention became too much, ultimately contributing to their breakup.
On the work front, Sarah Jessica Parker is currently back on screens in the hit HBO Max series “And Just Like That…”, reprising her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw.
The show continues to explore love, friendship, and reinvention: themes Parker clearly knows a thing or two about, both on and off screen. You can stream the latest season now on HBO Max.
