Shay said this changed in the show’s sixth season. </p>
<p id=”par-3_49″>“On season 6 of <em>VPR</em>, when James Kennedy told Katie Maloney that the outfit she was wearing wasn’t flattering, I got a phone call from Lisa,” Shay told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/scheana-shay-breaks-her-silence-on-brocks-affair-got-my-karma-excl/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Us Weekly</a>. “She didn’t want to fire James, so she needed someone to stand up for him [at a staff meeting].”</p>
<p id=”par-4_40″>Shay didn’t think she could support Kennedy in this way. She refused to speak up and recalled getting a dirty look from Vanderpump as a result. She said that fans might be able to catch that if they watch closely.</p>
<p id=”par-5_48″>“If you go back and watch, I’m getting a death stare from Lisa, like, ‘When are you going to speak up? When are you going to stick to the script?’” she recalled. “That’s when I stopped following her orders, and I feel like the relationship changed after that.”</p>

Shay said Vanderpump knew about the affair but always claimed she didn’t.</p>
