2026 is promising to get off to an exciting start for Netflix subscribers after a new teaser for one of its biggest shows dropped on Monday.

The fourth season of Bridgerton is much closer than we thought, with a brand-new teaser trailer promising that new episodes are on the way.

Bridgerton, a Regency romance period drama, became one of Netflix’s biggest hits almost immediately after the success of its first season in December 2020.

The story follows the eight siblings of the series’ titular family as they navigate love and romance in the high society of London in the early 19th century.

Beginning with the love story of Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett (Rege-Jean Page), the show has taken on something of an anthological approach since then, focusing on a new pair each season.

The likes of Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, and Simone Ashley have been moved to centre stage in later seasons, with more secondary characters lined up to take the spotlight for season 4.

Season 4 teased the new main faces, with Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton and ‘the Lady in Silver’ Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, featured in the new teaser.

And it appears fans are beside themselves at the prospect of new episodes arriving in the next few months, with this latest batch arriving sooner than at any point in the last five years.

There were 26 months between seasons 2 and 3, but there will have only been 18 months between seasons 3 and 4 by the day of release.

This comes awfully close to beating the record of 15 months that transpired between season 1 and 2, which had the Covid-19 pandemic to contend with.

‘I LOVE that we’re starting the year off with such a bang! She’s giving diamond of the season with that STUNNING bedazzled dress and mask!’ Anita Matthews commented on YouTube.

Abraham Montague asked: ‘Am I the only one who stares at both of them, their outfits, their gazes, the way they touch hands, the masks, the ladder and the walls as a refuge for them, the way they drop their gloves?’

Sarah03 speculated on the plot for the season: ‘Forbidden romance is my favourite TV trope, so lets see if this season can beat season two.’

Clarinda Nilsson joked: ‘It’s good to have the dates far ahead already so I can mark my calendar for when I’m going to be calling in sick for work!’

When is Bridgerton season 4 coming out?

Fans only have to wait until January (Picture: Netflix)

Bridgerton’s fourth season will be released in two parts on Netflix, with the streaming platform keeping up with its format of staggering the release of its biggest shows.

The first part of season 4 of Bridgerton will be released on January 29, 2026, while the second part of the new season will come out almost a month afterwards on February 26.

This is in keeping with the release patterns of other big hits, such as Stranger Things, which has had its last season (consisting of eight episodes) divided into three.

It was also true for Cobra Kai, which had its final season release schedule staggered when it premiered earlier this year, bringing another Netflix hit to a close.

Season 3 of Bridgerton was also released in two batches of episodes, with the first batch of four coming on May 16, 2024, and the next batch arriving a month later.

Who is in the cast?

Season 1 was headed by Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, season 2 was led by Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, while season 3 focused on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

What do we know about the plot?

Time for new characters to step forward into the spotlight (Picture: Netflix)

Netflix has said of the new season: ‘The character who once looked on dreamily from the corner of the ballroom is now ready for his own Bridgerton love story.

‘Benedict meets his romantic interest, the determined and captivating Sophie, in the first episode of the new season. Benedict first spots a mysterious Lady in Silver at Lady Bridgerton’s famed masquerade ball.’

The description continues: ‘With the reluctant help of his sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Benedict sets out in society to uncover the young lady’s identity.

‘But in fact, his heart’s desire is not in society at all — she is a resourceful maid named Sophie, working for the formidable Lady of the house, Araminta Gun (Katie Leung).’

The synopsis then reveals that Benedict remains unaware that an ‘intriguing maid’ and this ‘Lady in Silver’ are in fact the exact same person.
