Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs: A Former Inmate at His Prison Compared It to an ‘Insane Asylum’

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will spend the next several years as an inmate at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey. Following his guilty sentence on charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, Combs’ team pushed for him to serve out his sentence at the facility. While some former inmates said that Combs’ biggest problem in prison will be boredom, others have more harrowing tales from their time incarcerated at Fort Dix. One former inmate described the facility as an “insane asylum.”

Ahead of his prison sentence, Combs stayed in the Metropolitan Detention Center. The jail has a reputation for poor living conditions. As a result, Combs’ life may have grown easier after his transfer to prison. Still, some former inmates say that Fort Dix was a challenging environment to be in.

“There’s one bathroom per floor with toilets and showers, and everything is broken. A lot of the food is expired. It’s horrible. They don’t care,” a former inmate told <a href=”https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/inside-diddys-life-at-fort-dix-prison-fights-filth-and-bad-food-excl/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Us Weekly. “I was there a day and a half, and I [told a] kid [I just met], ‘This isn’t a jail, this is an insane asylum!’ and he agreed. It was a zoo.”

He said he witnessed things like group sex and violence in the prison.

“I’ve seen people get stabbed over an onion,” he said. “You ain’t in there with the most stable people.”

Still, Giudice admitted that Fort Dix had some perks that other prisons might not have. This is not just because Fort Dix is a low-security facility.

“You can get your clothes tailored and chefs making food for you,” he said. “That’s just how it is.”

Combs will remain in prison until his projected release date of June 4, 2028.
