Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Wants to Do Something ‘Exceptional’ With His Career After Prison, Said His Lawyer

As Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing date looms, he is already making plays for his life after prison. A jury found Combs guilty of the two lesser charges against him. As a result, he will spend a great deal less time behind bars than originally anticipated. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said Combs will try to make the most of his time after his release.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has high hopes for his career after prison

Agnifilo, Combs’ lead attorney, said the disgraced mogul is primarily looking forward to spending time with his family once he is free.

“I think he wants to get out of jail, reestablish a loving, present relationship with all of his seven children,” Agnifilo told <a href=”https://www.cbsnews.com/news/sean-diddy-combs-madison-square-garden-marc-agnifilo/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>CBS News. “He wants to take care of his mother.”

While returning to his role as a son and father is at the top of his list, Agnifilo said Combs is making plans for his career.

“I think he’s someone who’s always going to strive to do something, you know, exceptional and probably demanding and challenging,” Agnifilo said. “But I think the most demanding and challenging thing in front of him right now is to get back with his kids and get back with his mother, and the people who love him and miss him.”

He has one rather lofty ambition, considering his current reputation.

“He said to me he’s going to be back at Madison Square Garden,” Agnifilo said.

How much time could Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs spend in prison?

A jury found Combs guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Combs likely will not spend even close to this amount of time behind bars.

“Even though the Mann Act carries a potential 10-year maximum sentence, Diddy is going to get time served or close to it,” former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.businessinsider.com/how-long-diddy-prison-sentence-2025-7″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Business Insider. “His sentencing guideline range may be as low as 15-21 months.”

The prosecution hopes to put Combs behind bars for five years. The defense is pushing for closer to two years.

His lawyers hope he won’t spend any time in prison

Though Combs potentially faces up to 20 years in prison, he is hoping to avoid spending any time in a correctional facility. Combs’ team has reportedly reached out to the Trump administration about a pardon.

“He says, ‘Go tell him (Mr. Trump) that I need a pardon,’” Agnofilo said. “‘Go tell him I deserve a pardon.’ That’s what he said.”

While Agnifilo said he has not been involved in any discussions about a pardon, he has spoken about exploring the possibility of home confinement. He believes this could be a good option, as prison will not have adequate therapy for Combs.

“I am certainly going to be asking the judge, as a condition of his supervised release that he have appropriate counseling and therapy,” Agnifilo told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.tmz.com/2025/08/08/marc-agnifilo-diddy-home-confinement/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TMZ. “I think he needs it, I think he thinks he needs it.”

Combs’ sentencing date is Oct. 3.
