When fans of David Duchovny think about the actor’s roles, Fox Mulder from “The X-Files” â which earned him a Golden Globe Award â is surely the character that first comes to mind. However, he’s already made an impact with his current gig thanks to the fact that he stepped out on set looking totally unrecognizable.
David Duchovny Slays a Mini Skirt, Stockings & Slippers
In photos published by the Daily Mail on Thursday, April 2, David can be seen on the set of his new film, “Soapbox.” As the Mail notes, the appearance of the “65-year-old A-list actor will surely shock fans.”
As David was out on a street during a sunny day in Los Angeles, the star was photographed walking around while wearing a long, blonde wig that boasted Farrah Fawcett-worthy curls around the edges. Along with dark sunglasses and red lipstick, he also wore a see-through shirt and a sequined mini skirt as well as stockings. He completed the ensemble with fuzzy gray slippers.
The Mail points out that David “looked in good spirits as he flashed a big smile while getting prepared to get in front of the camera with his new look.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time David has donned a long wig and lipstick. He also did so on “Twin Peaks” in the ’90s while playing Denise Bryson, “a former Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent who later becomes the FBI’s Chief of Staff,” according to MovieWeb.
“Just as he was on the cusp of international superstardom thanks to The X-Files, David Duchovny was a relatively unknown actor taking what many might call a big risk â playing a trans woman in a surrealist TV series in 1990,” MovieWeb notes. “35 years ago, that kind of performance could have easily been insulting and one-dimensional, but Twin Peaks was a different kind of show, and Duchovny was a different kind of actor.”
‘Soapbox’ Also Stars David’s Daughter, West Duchovny
If David’s appearance for his “Soapbox” role has piqued your interest, then you’ll be intrigued to find out that the satirical comedy film â which David co-wrote â will see him portray “an aging soap opera star who finds himself caught in the absurdities of todayâs culture wars,” according to Deadline.
Also starring Laverne Cox (Clean Slate, Orange Is the New Black), the cast also includes David’s daughter that he shares with ex Téa Leoni, West Duchovny (Painkiller), as well as Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) and Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing).
