The iconic stars of “Sex and the City” continue to turn heads with every rare appearance. This week, one beloved actress made headlines once again, stepping out in style at an exclusive event. According to The Daily Mail, “Murphy Brown” star Candice Bergen, 79, was spotted at the prestigious Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference this week, often referred to as the âsummer camp for billionaires.â
The report claimed the 79-year-old actress arrived on Wednesday, riding a golf cart to the venue in the scenic Idaho resort town.
Dressed casually in denim jeans, a black jacket, comfy sneakers, and stylish sunglasses, Bergen embraced a laid-back look that still carried her signature poise.
A Familiar Face at a Star-Studded, Invite-Only Event
According to Daily Mail, Bergen has been a repeat guest at the annual July event, which has welcomed some of the worldâs top media, tech, and business executives since its launch in 1983.
This yearâs attendees included Disney CEO Bob Iger, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Appleâs Tim Cook, Walmartâs Doug McMillon, and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King.
The Hollywood legend seemed at ease among the elite crowd â a reflection of her decades-spanning career and deep ties to the entertainment industry.
From Hollywood Royalty to Emmy-Winning Icon
Bergenâs ties to show business run deep. Her late father, Edgar Bergen, was a famous ventriloquist and comedian, and her mother, Frances, was an actress.
In a 2015 interview with Interview Magazine, Bergen recalled her celebrity-filled upbringing: âWalt Disney was a friend of the family⦠I remember Rex Harrison singing at the piano, Fred Astaire dancing with all the ladies. The Reagans were very old and close friends.â
Her career began in the late 1960s, with standout roles in “The Sand Pebbles” (1966) and “Starting Over” (1979), the latter earning her an Oscar nomination. But it was her portrayal of Murphy Brown that cemented her as a television icon, earning her five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes between 1988 and 1998.
Candice Bergen on “Sex and the City” & Why She Never Watched It
In addition to Murphy Brown, Bergen later played Enid Frick, a no-nonsense Vogue editor, on Sex and the City. Despite her role in the HBO hit, she admitted in an interview with Glamour that she never actually watched the show. âIâve never watched one,â she confessed. When asked to confirm, she replied, âYeah.â
She also starred in the Emmy-winning series “Boston Legal”. She appeared in a string of beloved romantic comedies and dramas, including “Miss Congeniality,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Bride Wars,” and “Book Club.”
