Sharon Osbourne ‘not ok’ as she continues mourning Ozzy 3 months after death

Jack Osbourne has shared a heartbreaking update on how his mum Sharon is coping a few months after the death of her husband Ozzy.

The Black Sabbath frontman died aged 76 in July after suffering a heart attack, which followed a long battle with Parkinson’s and other health problems.

A week later, he was given a public farewell in his home city of Birmingham, which culminated in emotional scenes as the family stopped to see the thousands of messages and tributes left by fans.

Former X Factor judge Sharon, 72, was seen sobbing while comforted by her children, who were also in tears.

Last month, she commented publicly for the first time following the death of her husband of 43 years, whom she met as a teenager when her father was working as his band’s manager.

Now, a few weeks on, their son Jack has given an emotional interview with Good Morning America, in which he shared how Sharon was doing at the moment.

‘When people have been asking me that question, I say she’s okay, but she’s not okay,’ he explained.

Acknowledging the wave of public support the family received following Osbourne’s death, Jack said they had ‘felt the love’.

‘None of us expected it to be like this with that outpour of love,’ he said.

‘That has been such a level that none of us could ever really…you know, I think every child sits there and has this thought about one day their parents won’t be there, and what will that be like? It’s just a part of being human. We just didn’t think of it,’ he added.

Jack, 39, was on the show to promote his late father’s memoir, Last Rites, which was published this week.

Asked what it was like to read his father’s recollections by journalist Chris Connelly, Jack held back tears before sharing that the last chapter indicated Osbourne was ‘happy’ in the months leading up to his death.

He then broke down speaking about Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show, which was held in Birmingham just weeks before Osbourne’s death.

‘Before he went onstage, I ran back into the dressing room, and I just gave him a big hug. I just kissed him,” he said, “I was like, ‘Crush it. You’re gonna do so good”.’

‘And I was crying. I was in the crowd…there was this area in the crowd, and I was with my brother. And we both were just crying. Not because of feeling sorry for him. It wasn’t because we were sad for him. I think it was because we knew it was his last time.’

He added: ‘In hindsight, it kind of was a living wake if you think about it. He got to say goodbye to everyone.’

Speaking about her husband’s death publicly for the first time last month, Sharon wrote in a post on social media that she was ‘still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support’.

‘Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights,’ she told fans.

‘I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.’

A week earlier, Jack had shared details of the moment he learned about his father’s death.

‘I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3:45 in the morning. Someone who has worked for my family for probably 30 years was knocking on my door, and when I looked through my window, and I saw it was him, I just knew something bad had happened. I was informed that my father had passed,’ he said.

Jack said while he was relieved his dad ‘wasn’t suffering anymore’, he still ‘wished he was still with us’.
