Two days after Savannah Guthrie and her sister made a heart-wrenching visit to the home of their missing mother Nancy, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has released an update about the mysterious black glove that was discovered beside the roadway about a mile and a half from Nancy’s house.

In a Monday update to News 4 Tucson, Sheriff Chris Nanos said, “The owner of the glove we found was working at a restaurant across the street.” He dispelled previous reports that the glove was discarded by law enforcement during the search, saying, “There was some talk and discussion that it was police officers out in the field just discarding them. That is so far from the truth. We knew that at the time.” Nanos said even the time of the discovery, his department “believed wholeheartedly that those gloves belonged to a restaurant worker.” No restaurant workers have been identified as suspects in the case.

He added that the gloves in question are not the only ones being looked at. Others have been sent to a Florida lab where DNA testing could “take a while,” per the story. “It’s a challenge because we know we have DNA but now we have to deal with that mixture and how we’re going to separate it,” he explained.
