Actor Sissy Spacek has gushed about Jennifer Lawrence, having starred in the upcoming film âDie My Loveâ opposite her. Spacek appears along with Lawrence and Robert Pattinson in Lynne Ramsay’s comedy drama. She portrays Pam, the mother of Pattinson’s character Jackson, who has a dark and fiery relationship with his wife Grace.Â
Yet, despite their turbulent on-screen relationship, Spacek had nothing but praise for her castmates when sharing her thoughts on them.
Sissy Spacek Praises Jennifer Lawrence
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spacek lavished compliments on Lawrence and her other fellow actors in âDie My Love.â In particular, she was effusive about Lawrence and Pattinson’s chemistry.Â
“They were brilliant to watch,” she reveals. “I mean, there was nothing sexier than watching them fight and then make up. It was incredible.â
The veteran actor continued with her praise, claiming it was “amazing” to see her two younger co-stars bring the abusive couple to life in front of her. She then went on to explain how she has a new found respect for Lawrence despite knowing her for several years.Â
“We had such a connection,â said Spacek. â We’ve known each other for years, but this is the first time we’ve worked together.â
She continued, âAnd to watch her play this character, where she would be so present and taking care of Pam…There was a reversal of roles, so she’d take care of me, and then I would take care of her, and then she would take care of me, and I would take care of her. And I think that she meant everything to Pam. She was her hope for the future.â
Spacek Also Has Positive Thoughts on Nick Nolte
Spacek also had plenty of praise for âRich Man, Poor Manâ and âThe Prince of Tidesâ actor Nick Nolte. The two previously worked together on âHeartbeatâ and âAffliction,â with Spacek explaining that despite the more than two decades that has passed since they last worked together, they instantly fell back into a groove.
“We just took up where we left off. He is a brilliant actor,â she says. âI learned a great deal from him about the craft. He writes an entire background for every character he does. I mean, it’s like volumes.â
“He’s very, very prepared and in ‘Affliction,’ he was just so spectacular…I loved working with him every time I did. But in this one, he was always so present in that character, and it was difficult, I’m sure, because he and Jennifer were dealing with a mental illness.â
