Founding member of Slipknot, Sid Wilson, has reportedly been kicked out of the band after almost three decades.
The heavy metal band, founded in 1995, is behind hit songs like Duality and Psychosocial and is also made up of guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson, singer Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn Crahan.
Now it transpires that Wilson, 49, who acts as the band’s DJ and keyboardist, has been permanently removed, according to TMZ.
He was one of the original nine members, joining the masked-up musical group in 1998, just before they recorded their self-titled debut album.
The publication didn’t offer a reason for the boot, although Root seems to have cryptically shared his own message after rumours started circulating of the axe.
‘Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.’ and used the group’s song, Til We Die, to soundtrack the story.
He has not addressed Wilson or the axe directly, however. Nor is there an official reason for why he might have been taken out.
It’s been a turbulent year for Wilson, who also broke his engagement with his on-and-off girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne.
The pair first met in 1999 when Slipknot was touring on Ozzyfest but only officially confirmed a romance in February 2022, after 23 years of friendship.
At the time, Osbourne said he was ‘my best friend, my soulmate and I am so deeply in love with you’ with the pair welcoming their son, Sidney, at the end of 2022.
They got engaged in 2025 but have since quietly called it off, although sources remain hopeful they may still get back together.
Still, Osbourne seems to have sworn off men, telling Closer: ‘[Dating is] the last thing on my mind. I love being single.
‘I’ve got my baby. I’m ambivalent. All men are the same. It’s rough.’
Talking about her son Sidney, however, she added: ‘He’s so gorgeous. I’m very blessed. I would love to have more kids. He definitely has got the It factor. There is something very magical about him.’
