A new PlayStation presentation is just around the corner, according to a reliable insider, but what games will it feature?
It’s only been a couple of weeks since the dedicated Phantom Blade Zero State Of Play, but Sony’s next major presentation could be on the near horizon.
Sony has held a State Of Play presentation in September every year since 2022, although the exact date has varied between the start and end of the month.
Naturally, there’s an expectation that another showcase is on the way next month (aka from tomorrow onwards), but it could be closer than we think, based on the word of a reliable insider.
NateTheHate, who has a strong track record for gaming leaks, was asked on X if we should expect a State Of Play presentation in September.
‘Working to confirm the date; but a State Of Play in September is looking incredibly likely and soon,’ they wrote in response.

Since then, an untested source on Reddit has claimed the State Of Play will take place this Thursday, September 3. If that is the case, it should be announced on either Tuesday or Wednesday this week, but since that leaker hasn’t proven themselves yet we wouldn’t book a day off in advance.
As for what you should expect, Sony has Marvel’s Wolverine lined up for September 15, 2026. Beyond that, God Of War Laufey launches in February next year, and Until Dawn 2 is slated for 2027 too.
The big question is whether we’ll see more from Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which is supposedly targeting a 2027 release date as well.
On the third party front, considering an early version of the trailer leaked last week, EA’s Iron Man could get its official premiere in the presentation too. In response to the leak, EA tweeted: ‘Well, that didn’t go as planned. But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.’
The last major State Of Play took place in June, when we saw reveals for God Of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, and Stuntman: Hollywood.
Laufey is due out early next year, on February 16, and that’s the only other Sony published game with a firm release date. Even so, it’s relatively unlikely that Sony will talk about any new games in September, when they prefer to concentrate on titles that will be available at Christmas or soon after.
Beyond Until Dawn 2, the only major title thought to be relatively close to release is Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which doesn’t yet have a release year.
Sony no doubt has other titles in development, including the recently reconfigured Horizon Hunters Gathering, but a September State of Play is probably not the most obvious time to announce them.
