As rumours swirl around a new PlayStation handheld, one retailer has revived the PSP as a sleek crossbody bag.
Sony’s ambitions for a dedicated gaming handheld may have seemed to die with the failure of the PS Vita, but the company might be about to re-enter the market in a big way.
There have been rumours for months around a new PlayStation handheld, which seems to be a significant part of Sony’s next gen plans. However, it’s still unclear whether the device will be a standalone handheld, a streaming device like the PlayStation Portal, or a hybrid of some kind akin to the Nintendo Switch.
Whatever PlayStation’s next handheld ends up being (if it exists at all), the spirit of Sony’s first ever portable console, the PSP, lives on thanks to a new crossbody bag from Zara.
The bag is a silicone recreation of Sony’s handheld, complete with a PlayStation-themed shoulder strap. Better yet, it’s only £19.99.

This isn’t the first PlayStation-themed bag at the retailer. Zara celebrated the console’s 30th anniversary last year with two other crossbody bags modelled after the PlayStation 5 DualSense and the PlayStation 2 DualShock controller, priced at £17.99 each.
It’s unclear why Zara has suddenly released a PSP edition, but it’s the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch – as it matches up with the shape of the bag better. it also has the PSP logo on the back, which will warm the cockles of anyone prone to early 2000s nostalgia.
The PSP was a massive hit in Japan and went on to sell over 80 million units worldwide, although it was considerably less successful in the West. Even so it’s currently the 11th best-selling console of all time, ahead of the NES, SNES, Game Boy Advance, and every Xbox console except the Xbox 360.
For PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, Sony celebrated with a special line of PlayStation 5 consoles and a grey DualSense controller for a limited time. Earlier this year, Sony hiked up the price of the PlayStation 5 by £90 in the UK due to ‘continued pressures in the global economic landscape’.
