Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are back together on screen, but this time, things are a little bit different. For one, the setting isnât Westeros, and well, there is no winter weather involved. The former âGame of Thronesâ stars, who spent nearly a decade playing siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, are reuniting in the upcoming gothic horror film âThe Dreadful.â
Turner, who also serves as a producer on the project, admitted that the reunion came with one very awkward challenge. It involved none other than romantic scenes with some steamy moves.
Sophie Turner on Playing Her ‘Brother’s’ Love Partner
âSo, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, âYeah, Iâd love to, but this is going to be really f***ing weird, Soph,ââ Turner said during her Aug. 14 appearance on âLate Night With Seth Meyers.â âAnd I was like, âWhat is he talking about?â Then I was reading [the script] and itâs like, âKiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sexâ¦â And then Iâm like, âOh, shoot, thatâs my brother.ââ
Despite their instant hesitation, both actors decided the script was too good to pass up. Written and directed by Natasha Kermani, âThe Dreadfulâ follows Anne (played by Turner) and her mother-in-law, Morwen, who live on the fringes of society in 15th-century England. According to Variety, âWhen a man from their past returns, he triggers a chain of events that upends Anneâs life.â As far as a release date, well, that has yet to be announced, but before the haunting could begin, Turner and Harington had to push through their discomfort. Because, well, after so many years of playing siblings, love scenes can get quite awkward.Â
A Sibling Bond to Remember
âWe put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and itâs the first kissing scene, and we are both retching,â Turner told Meyers. âLike, really, it is vile. It was the worst.â
That sibling-like bond, she explained, never faded after eight seasons together on âGame of Thrones.â âWe kind of had to just get on with it,â Turner added.
The film also stars Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence OâFuarain, and Jonathan Howard. Although we still donât know much about the film or when to expect it, the anticipation is already building among fans eager to see Turner and Harington share the screen again. Yes, even if the chemistry is more complicated this time around.
