Stop right now: the Spice Girls appear to be up to something.

Months after hopes of a 30th anniversary reunion seemed to have been dashed, the iconic girl group have sent fans into meltdown with a mysterious social media post teasing an announcement for Thursday.

And considering the clues they’ve dropped, people are understandably struggling to keep it together.

On Wednesday, the Spice Girls’ official account shared a video simply captioned: ‘10.09.2026 | 2pm BST.’

There was no explanation of precisely what will be revealed when the clock strikes 2pm, but the accompanying footage certainly wasn’t chosen at random.

The clip was filmed on the steps of London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, instantly recognisable to Spice Girls devotees as the location used for their Wannabe music video.

Even more suspiciously, the opening of their 1996 debut single can be heard in the teaser.

The track celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, and Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Victoria Beckham have repeatedly spoken about wanting to mark the milestone somehow.

Fans have already decided this can mean only one thing.

‘WHAT IS HAPPENING !!! 😍😍😍😍,’ one demanded on X, while another begged: ‘Don’t play with my feelings please.’

Someone else skipped the speculation stage entirely, declaring: ‘ITS HAPPENING THE SPICE GIRLS REUNION TOUR IS HAPPENING.’

The suspense has apparently become a medical emergency for another fan, who wrote: ‘Countdown on the spice girls website has sent me into paralysis.’

Others are protecting their hearts after years of reunion rumours.

‘How many years has it been now they’ve been saying they are reuniting or whatever…🫠,’ one sceptic wrote. ‘Everytime I’ve said I will believe it when I see it 🙃😂.’

Are the Spice Girls actually reuniting?

That’s the million-pound question, and for now, the group haven’t explicitly said they are.

However, Wednesday’s tease is particularly intriguing given that a major reunion had seemingly been ruled out only months ago.

In March, Mel C poured cold water on reports of a 2026 comeback, telling Australia’s KIIS Radio: ‘No, there is no reunion.’

She did, however, leave a fairly Spice-Girls-shaped door open. ‘We are communicating all the time. We want to do something – who knows when,’ she said.

‘But I still feel very optimistic and I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future.’

Reports at the time suggested discussions over a comeback tour had stalled after an agreement couldn’t be reached.

Six months later, sticking a date on a video filmed at one of the most important locations in Spice Girls history certainly suggests something has changed.

Could Victoria Beckham return to the Spice Girls?

This is where things become even more interesting.

Geri, Mel B, Mel C and Emma last toured together in 2019, playing 13 stadium dates across the UK and Ireland.

Victoria, however, hasn’t performed publicly with the group since all five reunited for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.

She has been candid about feeling that performing is no longer for her, previously saying the Spice Girls’ 2007 reunion tour helped her realise she ‘didn’t belong on stage’.

But Posh hasn’t completely ruled out squeezing back into the platforms.

Last year, Victoria admitted a Spice Girls residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas might tempt her.

‘How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere! I love the idea of it,’ she said, although she joked: ‘I don’t know if I could even still sing, I mean I was never that great.’

Geri has also previously expressed hopes that any future reunion would involve the complete line-up, saying: ‘My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one. We’ll come as one.’

What have the Spice Girls said about a 30th anniversary comeback?

Quite a lot, which explains why fans are now reading approximately 47 different meanings into a few seconds of footage.

Mel B has been characteristically enthusiastic, saying earlier this year that the group ‘should be doing something’ to celebrate three decades since Wannabe.

‘Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but we’re all talking about it because, if not anything, just for our fans,’ she said.

Emma echoed that sentiment last month, saying it would be ‘lovely’ to commemorate the anniversary, although she insisted they still didn’t know what form those celebrations would take.

For now, there is no confirmation that Thursday’s announcement is a tour, concert, residency or even a performance at all.

But after months of being told a reunion wasn’t happening, the Spice Girls have deliberately returned to where Wannabe began, turned up the opening bars and started a countdown.

We’ll tell you what they want, what they really, really want, when they finally let us all in on the secret.
