Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) found himself in a life-or-death situation after being kidnapped by Naz (Jack Topalian) over a $1 million debt. What started as a plan for Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) to use money from her online adult content to repay what Nate owed quickly spiraled into something far more dangerous.

After Cassie shut down her account, Naz ran out of patience. He had already sent one of Nate’s fingers to Cassie as a warning. His next move was even more chilling: burying Nate alive in a coffin underground with only a narrow tube connecting him to the surface.

Meanwhile, Cassie faced her own terrifying ordeal. A thug arrived at her door and violently slammed her into a glass table before dragging her into the bedroom and tying her up. She was given an ultimatum: come up with the money in 72 hours, the estimated time Nate could survive underground.

Episode 7 ends with Nate trapped underground in a coffin after a deadly kidnapping tied to a massive debt, before a venomous rattlesnake slithers through the only pipe keeping him alive. By the time help arrives, it is already too late.

Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) eventually stepped in to help Cassie. Alamo suggested he would come up with the ransom money, but instead, he made a different choice: he shot Naz dead. When the coffin was finally dug up, they discovered Nate’s disfsgured body inside.

The shocking death occurred just one week before the show’s finale.

Elordi opened up about his character’s unforgettable final moments on “Euphoria.”

The actor broke his silence about Nate Jacobs’ shocking death scene, opening up about the intense experience of filming inside a coffin with live snakes.

“That was a cool way to go. Nate was someone who has made so many mistakes and made so many dark choices,” Elordi explained in a segment that aired after the episode. “It’s cool to see it all come to what it’s come to.”

The Australian actor recalled the claustrophobic reality of shooting the scene, which required him to be sealed inside a coffin for extended periods.

“My shoulders were touching the side, and they couldn’t move my arms. Then they would drill the lid on it and it would get dark. It was really nice, actually. It was quite peaceful in there,” Elordi shared.

The stunt team made sure the actor had oxygen throughout filming and praised him for agreeing to spend minimal time in the confined space.

But the real surprise came when creator Sam Levinson decided to make the scene even more authentic.

Creator Sam Levinson Used Real Snakes for the Death Scene

Sam Levinson reportedly pushed for realism while filming Nate’s terrifying death scene on Euphoria, bringing real snakes onto the set, including a rattlesnake and a boa constrictor.

“Snakes were rattling, which was really alarming when you are locked in a box,” Jacob Elordi recalled, as quoted by US Weekly. “They had a boa constrictor that they put a fake rattler on the end of it.”

Even with the intense setup, Elordi admitted the experience was far less frightening than expected.

“He was super cute. He was really cuddly. So he kind of just sidled up next to me, and it was nice,” the actor shared. “But he was really sleepy. He was a sleepy snake. I had to kind of nudge him to get him to come up. And that was it.”

“I finished filming a new season just recently, and it’s a completely different thing,” he shared on a December 2024 episode of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview. “I really do think [he will be nicer].”

He added, “Whether it works or not — I don’t know. There’s a chance that what I’ve done is not good.”

"Euphoria" airs on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. The finale of Euphoria Season 3 (Episode 8, titled "In God We Trust") will air on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
