<p id=”par-1_42″>In 2022, a woman accused <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/aerosmith-steven-tyler-describes-when-his-childhood-ended.html/”>Aerosmith singer Stephen Tyler</a> of assault when she was a teenager. The following year, another woman <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/melissa-gilbert-said-timothy-busfield-allegations-hurt-children.html/”>made similar allegations</a>. While a judge recently dismissed much of the lawsuit, it will still proceed to trial later this year.</p>

<p id=”par-2_44″>In 2022, Julia Misley made allegations of sexual assault and battery against Tyler after meeting him in 1973. At the time, he was in his mid-20s, and she was 16. He later <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/steven-tyler-once-took-legal-guardianship-over-teenager-who-became-his-fiance.html/”>retained legal guardianship</a> of her, and they remained together for three years. </p>

<p id=”par-3_39″>In her suit, Misley alleged that Tyler “coerced and persuaded her into believing this was a ‘romantic love affair’” (per <a href=”https://www.nme.com/news/music/aerosmiths-steven-tyler-accused-of-sexually-assaulting-a-minor-in-new-lawsuit-3372555″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>NME</a>). She also accused him of providing her with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/steven-tyler-recalls-acid-trip-where-mother-nature-was-talking-to-him.html/”>drugs and alcohol</a>, and pressuring her into getting an abortion.</p>
<p id=”par-4_35″>The following year, Jeanne Bellino filed a suit accusing him of assaulting her when she was a teenager in the 1970s. A judge later dismissed the case because the statute of limitations had run out.</p>

<p id=”par-5_25″>Recently, a judge dismissed much of Misley’s lawsuit because of the statute of limitations in Massachusetts, where the couple lived for much of their relationship. </p>
<p id=”par-6_56″>“This is a massive win for Steven Tyler. Today, the Court has dismissed with prejudice 99.9% of the claims against Mr. Tyler in this case,” Tyler’s lawyer David Long-Daniels said in a statement, per <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/steven-tyler-headed-trial-following-child-sexual-22237242.php” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>SF Gate</a>. “The court has decided that only one night, fifty-plus years ago, out of a three-year relationship is allowed to remain.”</p>
<p id=”par-7_36″>Misley traveled with Tyler to California on his tours, though. Because of California’s Child Victims Act, which allows child victims to file lawsuits regardless of the statute of limitations, the case will still proceed to trial.</p>
<p id=”par-8_42″>“This reflects years of resilience and courage by Ms. Misley, driven by an unwavering pursuit of truth and justice,” her attorney, Jeff Anderson, said in a statement. “It is time for justice and for Tyler to be held accountable by a jury.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_7″>The trial will take place in August.</p>
