A Strictly Come Dancing star who was arrested on suspicion of rape last year will face no criminal charges, police have confirmed.

The man, who cannot be publicly identified for legal reasons, was arrested on October 13, 2025, and later released on bail while an investigation was carried out.

On Tuesday, Hertfordshire Police confirmed the case has been closed after detectives determined there was ‘insufficient evidence’ to proceed, according to The Sun.

In a statement, the force told the publication: ‘There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape.

‘The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action.

‘Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.’

The arrest was first reported at the time following allegations the man had raped a woman after a BBC event. It is understood the claims were not connected to the most recent series of the show.

A source described the investigation to The Sun as ‘a really awful, hellish period for all parties,’ adding that the man ‘has been through hell and back’ and now wants his name cleared.

The development comes amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding the BBC’s flagship dance competition.

In a separate case, another Strictly Come Dancing figure was arrested in August 2025 on suspicion of rape and alleged ‘non-consensual intimate image abuse.’

The Metropolitan Police confirmed earlier this year that the individual had been interviewed under caution and released on bail while inquiries continue.

That investigation remains ongoing.

The long-running, BAFTA-winning series has faced mounting controversy in recent years, with a number of allegations involving contestants and behind-the-scenes conduct drawing public attention.

The BBC previously said it would not comment on ongoing police investigations.
